Cartoon Network vs DC nation

Green Lantern the Animated series, and Young Justice are two fairly popular cartoons on Cartoon networks Saturday morning DC nation block, both recently came back from long hiatuses, airing only a couple episodes since their return. The fans were happy they were back, and all seemed to be well

Yesterday, about 10 hours before the episodes were to air this Saturday morning, Cartoon networks online schedule suddenly replaced the episodes with Re-runs of Johny Test. Many people thought this was obviously some sort of error. After all, even Volpe, a creator of green lantern who had just done a USA today interview about the episode to air this morning, had heard nothing of any schedule change

Until it turned out this morning that the DC nation block not only didn't air the brand new episodes it had run promos for earlier this week, it didn't air at all.

Fans were displeased to say the least
,

It isn't until hours after they were supposed to air that Cartoon network put out a response, saying not to worry DC nation fans, both shows will come back with new episodes...next year. Despite all the episodes of the season having already been made.

Fans have not been responding kindly

Weirdly enough, it seems the only person who doesn't yet know this happened is the writer of Young Justice, Greg Weisman. His most recent blog post states

"I'm posting this reminder a couple days early, because I'm leaving this afternoon to head up to Ashland, Oregon for the Shakespeare Festival. But believe me, my DVR is set to record both YJ and Green Lantern."

Edit: Usually after an episode airs, it's put on Itunes at midnight after. Apparently they forgot to cancel that
Edit the second: And they have been removed from itunes

Is this going to end with DC Nation and Community fans joining forces against their networks? With Abed as Batman?

I don't even know, the shows were supposed to run through october and november at least, and then all of a sudden this happened.

I want to be surprised by this. I really do. But the first season of Young Justice (26 episodes) started airing on January 7th, 2011 and finished airing on April 21st, 2012. Clearly they felt season two was going by a bit too quickly.

I guess I just don't understand the logic. I have a hard time figuring out when new episodes air as an adult. How the hell is the target audience supposed to figure this out?

Based on the previous new episodes-months of hiatus schedule though we should've gotten 3 episodes. Bastards.

Worst thing? Look at his full blog post Wiesman made about why he's recording this episode

YOUNG JUSTICE: INVASION: EPISODE: 210: "Before the Dawn": Premieres: this Saturday, October 13th as part of Cartoon Network's DC Nation block. (It repeats Sunday too.) Check local listings for times.

Keep in mind, this tenth episode of Season Two was plotted before we knew if we'd get the second half of the season. Once we got that pick-up, we assumed this would be our hiatus episode. Instead, we took the break after 207 (which was a great and exciting stopping point, so no complaints). But nothing changed about our story in 210. This is a significant episode on every level: plot, character and LOTS of action. Don't miss it!

He really wanted this ep to air

The Young Justice episode went up on iTunes at midnight - guess they didn't get notified about the schedule change. Don't know how long it'll be until they realize the mistake, so if anyone wants it, grab it now.

With rumours going around about Milestone being less than pleased about the treatment of their IP by DC -- and quite possibly doing something about it -- if there are Milestone characters in the YJ cartoon it may not entirely be Cartoon Network's doing if the show is yanked.

What? CN arbitrarily cutting off an episode days or even hours before it was meant to air? Gee, what a surprise.

I mean, it's not like they cut off Generator Rex five or six eps from the end of the entire series with absolutely no notice (they still had the first skipped ep listed on their site that day), no plans to air the rest and only released those final eps on itunes (on schedule I might add).

Seriously, at this point I don't get why anyone is surprised when CN treats their lineup as more of a pleasant fantasy than an actual schedule. They've done it before. At least this time CN had the courtesy to say something, even if it was flip and unsatisfying to fans.

Yeah, I see CN hasn't changed in the last eleven years or so regarding certain shows. They dicked around with the makers of the last season of ReBoot so much that we got an eight-episode trainwreck that ended in a cliffhanger.

(And I WISH there were only four-month hiatuses between seasons of Venture Bros. *sigh* Must be patient, it's always worth the wait...)

I kind of think Cartoon Network's true evil plan is just to air re-runs of Adventure Time and Regular Show until they get to Adult Swim, where it can just be Family Guy and King of the Hill.

i want a second season of the new Thundercats ;.;
