I don't think I have either. Parentheses are for things like citations and asides that for some reason you can't fit into the main argument of the paragraph. And as was pointed out to me by a professor, if you cannot fit it into the main argument of a paragraph, why is it even in your paper? I don't understand how parentheses can work in fictional prose. A humorous work, quite likely. But this kind of story? His eyes were blue (specifically, azure (azure like the sea)) and sparkling (but like a sapphire, not the sea (a princess-cut expensive sapphire)). I wanted to fuck him (but in a deeply spiritual way (but also in a hot sexy way)) so much (both frequently and extremely (and in extreme ways)). Post a comment in response: |
