As someone who stopped watching Merlin a while back and saw the fandom explode two weeks ago: what on earth happened in that finale?!

Apart from... well, the unfortunate incident, which was posted in gif form on tumblr half an hour after the end of the episode (obviously).

The short version is half the fandom is losing their minds because their ship was "confirmed" in canon, and everyone else is annoyed at the dropped plot threads known as "unified Albion" and "the return of magic".

Yeah, the one thing that pretty much every version has in common, and the THEME OF THE SHOW, and there was like one line that implied that somewhere off screen Arthur unified something.

Made worse because up to November the producers were saying they wanted to do a 6th season or a movie.
