Re: I should probably go to bed now. I think that all three starters in Gen 4 are amazing. Infernape turns into a speed demon, Empoleon hits like a runaway train and his Steel subtype means that he's practically an armored cannon, and Torterra is almost impossible to hurt with anything but Ice (he's powerful enough that Fire doesn't seem to hurt him as badly as you'd expect!) and I think that the final Gym is electric (at least, in Platinum!), so his Ground subtype makes him perfect for taking that gym on. I like the starters in Gen 5, but not as well. Emboar is pretty damned powerful -- and you keep Flame Rush on him, you can counter his innate slowness by using it repeatedly. Serperior gets some good Grass attacks, and Samurott is one of only a handful of Pokemon who can use False Swipe. (BTW: Samurott in Pokemon Conquest is goddamned broken. Incredibly powerful, hits three squares at a time and pushes back, and is remarkably accurate. Then again, Serperior and Emboar are almost broken in that game too.) I don't have much of an opinion about the Gen 2 starters, since I've only ever used Chikorita, because it's so effing cute. Post a comment in response: |
