BUT I ALREADY CAUGHT THEM ALL DAMMIT
Gamefreak and Nintendo promised an "evolution" of Pokemon earlier this week. Fans were excited, with most expecting an announcement for the sixth generation.
And indeed, there is going to be a brand new set of games, Pokemon X and Pokemon Y, released in October.

So you can imagine where this is going...
WHY THE HELL DO I GOTTA BUY A BRAND NEW SYSTEM FOR THIS GREEDY BASTARDS
I'm done except if they release Ruby and Sapphire
It's different why is it different
They look like Neopets but I'm not a genwunner!
REAL fans are excited. Fans that bash are stupid!
Hi jut wanted to tell you Gen 1 is still the best bye
It's just sad that we don't get what we want because we want nostalgia okay

I really like HG SS for the sheer amount of STUFF you could explore in. And it had so very many legendaries hidden within. Plus I did like that they actually found a use for the DS touchscreen besides just a menu you cal just as easily pull up with X.

That said, Black and White massively improved speed and level grinding so it is hard to go back to the older versuins to play.

Then again I cannot for the life of me understand folks who want a Ruby Sapphire remake because that had the least amount of conent of all of them. O.o

I will say I'd like to see a R/S remake, purely because that would give me incentive to go back and actually play the games for the first time. I do own Emerald, but it's hard for me to go from the DS interface to the GBA interface without glaring, especially after the B/W speed jump.

If you have Emerald that's essentially R/S but with both legendaries available. Mostly what I remember is trying to hop down those accursed mountain steps and the even worse currents to get to the Regis.

That's reassuring only not.

I keep intending to pick it up, and then I keep getting distracted. I was hoping for a DS remake because it would mean a much more persuasive argument to play it, based primarily on the interface change. Maybe we'll see one for Gen 6. 3D Rayquaza sounds fun.

This reminds me I have to finish porting all my shit over from HG to White.

I still don't like Kyogre much but my goodness Groudon is a beastly mc-beast. And it finally clicked that they were based on the Behemoth / Leviathan omg I love Poke!mythology. Rayquaza is a beast but you can get him in HG/SS.

But no - in a way I'm glad they didn't port it. Gen 3 had some awesome legendaries but there just wasn't enough to really justify adding to that particular set I don't think. It was a step backwards in terms of expanding the region. That said, I can forgive it given that it added double battling + natures and Blaziken and Swampert (and Torterra!!) are my favorite starters... I just don't see a reason to play through it given that like gen 1, once you beat the Elite Four... that's pretty much it.

Groudon is a MONSTER. Holy crap. I got him and my Rayquaza from HG and just. Holyshit. Stompage. So much fun.

This actually motivates me to play my copy of Emerald; 3 is the only generation I haven't played, and if it's not worth waiting for a remake I might as well work on what I've got. And train up another kung-fu fried chicken.

Go for it! It shouldn't take you very long to get through but I remember having a little trouble grinding to catch Rayquaza. If you can get all three starters - or at least Blaziken + Swampert, you should be pretty much set.

It's too bad you can't trade backwards, I have a Blaziken From Hell (tm) on HG. Oh well, you can't win 'em all.

I love Black and White (and their sequels) for one major, major thing: TMS ARE NO LONGER ONE-TIME-USE! You can use them as you need them -- if you need Flash for a particular cave, you can use it and then replace it later. They're harder to find and to buy and you can't sell ones you will likely never use, I don't think (you can't in BW2 anyway, and I think BW give you a pittance for any you try to sell) but in exchange, you don't have to worry about using up the TM on a pokemon you later decide is inferior to another one you've just caught, whatever.

I love HG/SS though with the adorable walking sprites. I think they're cute as hell. And the sheer amount of shit you can DO. But I hated how you had to play at different times of day to get certain pokemon, which is difficult if you work full time. I'm not home in the mornings much cuz I work so early, so trying to catch morning-only pokemon is really tricky (especially since on my days off, I tend to sleep in) but you had TWO WHOLE WORLDS to explore and craptons of pokemon to capture and play with. And 16 badges to collect! And tons of new bosses! And Suicune was just such a cute tease, dammit! (Prior to Keldeo, Suicune was my favorite Legendary!)

The only Pokemon game I didn't really enjoy was Diamond -- because it felt so terribly slow, having played Platinum, HeartGold and SoulSilver. I never attempted Pearl because Diamond just bored me with how long the battles took, how slow it all felt. :\

I've been playing Emerald on an emulator (I couldn't get Ruby or Sapphire to work on the emulator, but Emerald did work. Guess it's the rom or something?) but I'm still struggling against the third gym, so I think I'll take my pokemon out and train some more. Get another level or two on my Geodude and my Shroomish.
