Comedy is hard. Wank is easy.
With a fanbase like Homestuck's, the bar is set pretty high for "baffling" things to say about the comic, but one Timothy Sexton catches creator Andrew Hussie's eye with his review/article/wordpile on Yahoo Movies that clears that bar easily:

"If you remain unaware of Homestuck as an internet phenomenon, then you either don't kids or aren't aware of this here thing called the internets. As George W. Bush liked to refer (and probably still refer) to it. Homestuck is one day going to become a movie of some sort. Comedy is hard. Death is easy. That makes Homestuck a juggler."

You can read the full thing here. You can't read it in its original form on Yahoo anymore, though, because it was removed. According to Timothy Sexton, Homestuck fans got it taken down because it was too intelligent for them and they were jealous, or something. We know this because he says so in his follow-up article, entitled "Homestuck Fans: Not Quite as Hip and Intellectually Gifted as They Think."

"Don't feed the troll? What does that mean?" -dozens of Homestuck fans.

Hussie, for his part, finds the entire thing hilarious.

Hussie is making a Homestuck game -- it's apparently his project after the webcomic itself ends. He has Massive Kickstarter Funding Is Massive to develop it. I want to say they're aiming for a release date of December 2014.

I know. I thought that made the author's insistance on a movie even stranger since Hussie has been pretty upfront about wanting to make it a game.

Yeah I typed that and hit enter and then went 'dude if they know this much about Homestuck there is NO WAY they don't know about the kickstarter wow you're a moron'. So, sorry for the moronicity.

I think the writer just cannot comprehend the idea of 'game'. One must always adapt and make a movie, right? Movie!

If it helps I completely missed the kickstarter and only found out after it was over. I am a bad Homestuck fan.

And yeah the writer doesn't seem know a whole lot about the fandom or series he's writing about.

I chipped in $25, that was enough for a copy of the game and the soundtrack (I kind of sort of adore the music, it's my favorite part of the entire comic).

To be fair, unless you are actually in the fandom you probably don't know a whole lot about the fandom or the series he's incomprehensibly babbling about.

I coveted the Tarot cards in the Seerpak something fierce, but I feel guilty spending money on yarn most of the time, so I had to let it go. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll show up in the store someday. Eventually. Maybe. A gal can hope, right?

God, yeah, the Seerpak cards were almost mine until I stopped myself and went and bought fountain pens instead.

OH MY GOD. OH MY GOD YOU CROCHET SCALEMATES. OH MY EVER LOVING GOD. I was seriously coveting a Snoutpak just for the scalemates. OH MY GOD.

I am not a Terezi fan but SCALEMATES.

They were so gorgeous! I haven't used Tarot cards in aaaaaages and was only ever mediocre with them to begin with, but still. WANT. I could be motivated by those cards to actually memorize meanings and such.

Yep :3b I was a lot more pleased about that before Hussie declared "No selling 3D Homestuck stuff" and left me with a bunch of homeless mini-Squiddles and way too many potential eye-buttons. Luckily, I managed to trade a bunch of the Squiddles away for relatively cool stuff at an anime swap meet, but I'm still disappointed I can't make money off of them. At least trades are still an option. Also, I am thoroughly ignoring the No 3D Stuff rule as applied to charity auctions, but you didn't see me write that in public.

IIRC, it was pretty thoroughly suggested in the Kickstarter that the Scalemates probably would make it to the store if they did well, so there's always hope. Alternately, you could learn to crochet (unless you know how already?)/get someone else to crochet you one/trade me something.

I have no skills but writing or I would be begging to do a trade

I don't even read tarot, which was the kicker in why I didn't get them (I went and bought two of these instead) but oh god so much want so pretty wantwantwant.

Squiddles are also cool, especially magnetized. But that sucks with the whole no-sell thing. I did not see that.

Okay if those made it to the store I might shriek like a little baby in joy. I just. Pyralspite. I want. I can crochet but only on the most basic of levels -- like, I make a good granny square and that's it -- and the only other person I know who crochets doesn't do the small stuff. oh god I don't even know what I would trade what do you want I might be able to knit something

I went through this whole phase of card reading stuff. I still have two packs, plus a set of non-Tarot fortune telling cards I made myself and a set of the official Clow Cards that I've tried telling fortunes off before (despite not having canon fortune-telling meanings for more than a handful of them). So yeah, only a teensy bit interested there 9_9a But yes, those do look like quite snazzy pens.

I bought so many magnets and plastic eyes with the ambition of selling the little fuckers, and now they are of no use to me :( Or, well, I'm planning to see about making standard octopi and selling those, because who the fuck could sue me for that, but that still leaves the magnets.

You knit? And crochet a little bit? :O Okay, thought. Are you perhaps capable of translating crochet patterns into knit patterns if you have the crochet patterns plus, say, the physical result to work off of? Because I would totally trade for knit patterns. If not, er, do you happen to make fingerless gloves? I'd trade a small scalemate for a pair of those.

Also, have a gratuitous fic self-rec, because knitting. And/or the podfic of it for the listening to while crafting, because podfic. (Swear to Maude I'mma figure out how to add "works inspired by this" to the original eventually...)

They are VERY snazzy pens, and do be careful with that site. You will want all the pens. ALL of them.

I can't translate patterns, no...I'm not that talented or practiced, sad to say. But when you say 'fingerless mittens' are we talking like wrist warmers?

Thankfully(?), I've had practice staring longingly at things without any intent to spend money on them. I have temptation on a short leash.

Yes, wrist warmers, exactly! Those things.

Ok, I have a pattern for a pair of fairly simple but Toasty As All Hell wrist warmers. Will that work? And do you have a color preference?

That would be great ♥ (or should it be ♦?) Could I maybe get Light-aspect orange?

I'm not sure if I'll be able to get to Pyralspite right away :/ My tendonitis is acting up, so I'm taking a few days off from crochet. But it shouldn't be too long (I hope).

You are in luck, there was ONE skein of the right yarn in Light-aspect orange. Fortunately one is all I need for this pattern.

Oh, take your time. It's going to take me a bit to finish these, I have a sick daughter on my hands and that eats into my knitting time.

First of all, I hope your daughter is doing better!

I know it's like a million years later in Internet Time, but I'm done with Pyralspite :) Ta-dah! (Sharpie for size comparison only.) If/when you're done, we can swap addresses via PM and get stuff in the mail. That sound good?

* And by fingerless gloves I mean more like fingerless mittens rather than anything that has individual finger sleeves. Those seem like they'd be hella annoying to make.
