Entry tags:at least no one's knotting, fandom: sherlock holmes, fandom: teen wolf, goddammit you guys be funnier!, misplaced anger, oh hurrah the daily dot, please mommy make it stop, reading comprehension whut?, too cool for school, tumblr is witchcraft, we fail at not being misogynists

ALL Air-Date Announcements Pertain to Sherlock (and If They Don't, You'd Better Apologize)
Wank and write up taken from the little mousey over at [info]wank_report.

Tumblr user and Teen Wolf fan Heyysourwolf posts the air date for TW's third season. Unsurprisingly, she tags the post #s3 spoilers and--follow me closely, here--#teen wolf.

Sherlock fen, for no discernable reason whatever, assume that the post is regarding the air date for S3 of their show. Because no other show on TV anywhere is entering its third season, apparently. Or something.

Once they figure out that the post was not, in fact, about the return of the BBC series, Sherlock fen lose their shit.

Completely.

Sherlock fandom wants an apology RIGHT NOW, Heyysourwolf. A FORMAL apology. And we're going to berate you with misogynistic slurs and rant about how this is all your fault and how egregious it is that you should make yourself out to be the injured party and, above all, how immature you are, until we get it.

After all: "SOME OF US ARE EMOTIONALLY UNSTABLE DO YOU EVEN FUCKING THINK BEFORE YOU POST? GOD I HOPE YOU GET PUNCHED IN THE TITS."*

* Probability that that particular entry is just somebody awesome trolling the shit out of the other anons with sarcasm: moderately high

EDIT: Aja has written an article about the wank for The Daily Dot.

WHEN SEASON 3 OF A SHOW COMES OUT, MAKE IT OBVIOUS WHICH ONE IT IS, OTHERWISE YOU MAKE THE SHERLOCK FANDOM UPSET AND WE ALL KNOW HOW THAT TURNS OUT.
(x)

Only one show is allowed to have a season 3 premiere!

OH MY GOD I HAVE BEEN REALLY HAPPY FOR THE FIRST TIME IN WEEKS BECAUSE OF THIS NEWS AND NOW IT TURNS OUT THAT IT ISNT THE SEASON THREE GOD DAMMIT FUCK
(x)

Okay, Sherlock fandom, now I'm worried about you.

It's probably not worth it to spend the energy worrying about them. You're more likely to get good results worrying about nuclear war and impending Asteroids of Doom.

Though the impending Asteroids of Doom are a little hard to worry about when they keep missing us.

Except for when they hit Russia. Seriously, that was awful. I watched a video if it and I felt absolutely terrified.

My husband thought (for reals) that I was watching a video of a nuclear test or something.

The thing that struck me first, before the sound, was how the shadows just *booked* across the ground, and how dramatically the light changed. The quality of light is one of the "hoshit tornado coming" markers that will make me sit up and notice more than anything, even wind and hail, and I imagine that the people there had just enough time to think in their gut that the sun was actually, really, falling out of sky before the huge noise and the glass shattering and doors imploding. I can't imagine how terrifying it must have been.

I'm a little amazed at how many people rush to the windows and then stay there after they see the explosion. You don't have to have a degree in physics to know there's a shockwave coming.

That's the one I saw. It was scary as hell. Apparently, many people were injured by windows blowing out. I can't believe they got it on video...yeah I was basically like HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT, HOLY SHIT.

Oh. My. GOD. I used to live on Air Force bases, planes use my current area as SPEED RACER competitions apparently, and an ex-boyfriend was a re-enactor on a cannon crew. I still have never heard a boom that loud. Goddamn, that made me jump.

There is a scene in Disney's Dinosaur which is both beautiful and, as you say, absolutely terrifying.

The animals, of course, have no context for what they're seeing. But I... well, I think I'd probably just stand there and watch until the end, knowing that there's no way I could outrun the shockwave anyway.

I've watched a few of those. I completely understand them freaking out, especially those inside that had no idea about the meteor.

Personally, my verbal communications skills would have degenerated into using the work "fuck" in as many different ways as I could.

If it makes you feel better, meteors that size only hit Earth once ever 50 years or so, and if they hit the ocean, they aren't big enough for the airburst to do damage to shore. So we aren't likely to see one again anytime soon.

I saw Neil deGrasse Tyson on NBC news saying pretty much that (I'm sure he made that speech about a billion times in the space of 48 hours :)), and I was pretty surprised that we got the actual at-least-explodes-dramatically-in-the-atmosphere hits that often. But when you think about how much of our planet is unobserved swathes of ocean, it makes a lot of sense.

Very much *not* an astronomer, but I'll admit one of my first thoughts when I heard about the Siberian meteor was, "Does this count as our mass-extinction near miss for the next few generations?" :)

(And now I'm thinking: If a meteor explodes over the ocean and there's no one with a dash cam to record it, does it still make a stunning sonic boom? ;))

If a meteor explodes over the ocean, do the other meteors laugh at it?
