With the ambiguous meaning of his "New Jersey Red Bulls" remark (they're the New York Red Bulls - was he being snarky or is he just stupid?)
I assumed he was being snarky. It's become tradition in NJ to put signs up for the "NJ Giants" whenever the Giants get into the Superbowl because they play in Jersey.
