I approve of this illustration.
And no, that's so not normal. It's common for a single book to be more than $100, but $500 is kind of sort of totally ridiculous. My books for this quarter would've set me back about $400 total if it wasn't for the fact that one of them I already owned (the course is a continuation of one I took last quarter).
