Further proof that ship wars will never ever end.
All right, this one's a little late according to the WR comment, but I'm posting it anyway because this shit's too damn funny to let it pass.

Search the Taiora or Sorato tag on tumblr and you might run into the news that Hiroyuki Kakudou, the director for the first two Digimon series, recently answered questions about Sora and Yamato getting together at the end of Digimon Adventure 02 instead of the statistically more popular favorite, Taichi and Sora, on his Twitter account.

A while ago, Jippy posed a couple of questions to Kakudou via Twitter about what went on with the executive decision to make Sora and Yamato the canon pairing. He answered that Sorato had been planned since the beginning of Digimon Adventure, and that Taichi and Sora were never meant to be. Jippy took to tumblr and made some tl;dr posts discussing his replies, as well as using it to push her explanation of "Sorato is real" and overanalyzing the Taisorato relationship to contribute to individual character development, along with contradictory statements that Digimon was supposed to focus on friendship, not romance.

Lots of butthurt ensued.

Some tumblr users called out Jippy for calling the Taiora relationship an "obstacle" for Sorato to happen. Taiora fans were also vocal regarding the fact that it still didn't change the fact that Sorato wasn't very well-developed compared to the Taiora relationship.

Shit escalated when Jippy decided to post her news on With the Will, one of the largest English-speaking Digimon forums. Many users either called bullshit on Kakudou's responses, claiming he sounded dismissive, didn't seem to care about the questions asked, or had a different viewpoint in comparison to when he called shots more than a decade ago or complained that Jippy wasted a good opportunity to inquire about more relevant topics about the series instead of about stupid ship stuff. Other users argue that even if Sorato was planned from the beginning, that didn't excuse its poor development, as even the voice cast involved didn't catch on and portrayed the characters how they thought they might have gone. Jippy doesn't make it any better when she continues to insist that Sorato made sense to her and always had been real in the snippiest way possible.

Additionally, user KaenKazui argued that some of the writers under Kakudou supported Taiora, and even claimed correspondence with Satoru Nishizono (one of the lead writers for Digimon Adventure) about the situation, but when asked to produce the receipts, refused. Instead, she/he retaliated by accusing Jippy of being disrespectful of publishing Kakudou's tweets even though his account was public. Also, KaenKazui refutes Jippy's claims supported by DVD interviews by insinuating that official interviews are untrustworthy, as they are strictly conducted without any bastard questions and the staff aren't allowed to say anything that would potentially make them or the show look bad.

I personally never had a bone to pick in this fight since I hung out in the Jyou/Mimi corner and refused to touch the Taiora vs. Sorato vs. Taito bullcrap (specially since Sora was so hated by all "corners"), but still. Dammit people, it has been like... 10 years, if not MORE?

That's actually a good point. Sometimes I forget I'm one of the few who likes to pretend the rest of the Compilation never happened and doesn't particularly care one way or the other if there's an HD remake.
