Actually, it's completely illogical, which is why I find it so amusing. I mean, I've been involved in slash fandom from before the internet even existed. I started out writing stories forfanzines back in the day they were made of paper with cardboard covers, circulated through the mail, and you found ads for them in the back of Starlog Magazine. And in all the time I've been slashing couples and writing stories, never ONCE have I suffered from the delusion that actors I slashed were anything but straight guys (usually married with kids) who were acting. And trust me, a lot of the shows I've written for had pretty slashy subtext. I actually watched Supernatural when it first debuted on TV, and gave it up after a couple of seasons as not being that interesting. That was before they introduced the Angel guy, but I've seen a couple of episodes since, and I'm really not that impressed. The subtext is so far over the top it borders on being offensive. More to the point, the fans seem to have a sense of entitlement that the creators and actors somehow OWE IT TO THEM to make their OTP come true. We won't even go into the hate directed by the 'fans' towards the actors wives and children. That's a line I would have never crossed even when I was younger and more naive. But then, I was always able to tell the difference between actors playing a part on TV and the reality that when they were off-screen, they had their own lives that likely included wives or girlfriends and kids.
