fandom: supernatural, shipping is very serious business

Spoilers for the Season 9 of Supernatural ... again ...

So the Supernatural fandom is divided between an old guard and a new breed, between J2 shippers and Misha minions, between LiveJournal and Tumblr, between the True Fans who know that the show is about two brothers and whatever the hell Destiel shippers are. Heretics? And spn_gossip, being on Livejournal and filled with J2 shippers and tinhatters, is of course opposed to the Destiel tumblrites. Anyway, some anonymous person claims that they have insider information about the upcoming season, specifically that "-There will be canon Destiel this season, and it feature in 9.04. Sorry guys. -By canon Destiel, I mean that Dean and Castiel are going to be in an acknowledged romantic relationship." (Later, they clarify, and, honestly, it doesn't sound any more or less "romantic" than any scenes that Dean and Castiel have had before, but whatever.)

Most of the thread is people arguing about the anon's legitimacy and whether this squares with other information, etc., but an anon breaks it up by saying, "Cards on the table: I'm a pro-canon Dean/Cas shipper, and I REALLY doubt this. Are you sure your source isn't reading too much into the usual lol-gay the writers do?"

And, of course, another anon wants to know why a Destiel fan would be interested in Destiel-related gossip:

Yes we see love between Sam and Dean, the actual canon soulmates on the show. Blind is the Destiels who don't see there's no one else for Dean and he don't fucking want Cas. Jensen said Dean is straight. Get it through your thick shipper goggles addled head. IF he would end up with someone willing to play 2nd fiddle to Sam in his life, it would be with a woman.

They are best of friends, they play the closest of brothers on t.v. They express this in both onscreen and off screen. They have chemistry up the wazoo, they are the figureheads of this t.v. show and they've done it together.

I'm a het and yes both are imaginary imo but atleast J2 have a base, a substance something you can say, aww, cute and adorable and even they know it. Destiel isn't even remotely on screen or real or even a part of the t.v. show called Supernatural staring Jensen Ackles and Jared Padalecki. So don't try to make it that these things are the 'same' they are anything but. Its like comparing a stallion horse to a piece of shit.

Furthermore I am totes not watching episode 4 and onwards because while destiel isn't made canon, I know for sure because what the OP have us doesn't mean destiel at all, I won't sit around watching the cas show with a side of the dean and cas show, such boron crap all around. This is the storytelling the show has degraded too
