Yeah, it's certainly not 'oops I Pamela Dean'd all these pages', but the lengthy explanation's totally unwarranted and just plain weird.
The bookstore was covered in her swag and manga adaptation today. I felt all superior and snooty until I realized that without even consciously thinking about it I'd taken Shakespeare's Star Wars off the shelf.
