Went looking and found this on John Green's Tumblr instead:

I’ve known Cassandra Clare for many years—since before she was published. I have never seen her be anything other than extraordinarily generous toward teens and adults alike.

I have to wonder exactly where he knew her, because it clearly wasn't fandom.
