In defence of John Green (and possibly others)
At first, when I heard about him defending her, I felt very much the same as those angry tumblrs. John Green is one of the few people I actually look up to and admire, and to see him defending CC was extremely unsettling.

However, after meditating on this for ~a week, I think I actually get it now. I think this whole thing's a lot like the Gryffindor Tower situation during the MsScribe Saga, only it isn't MsScribe white washing her history, it's CC, and it isn't the GT'ers who have a grudge, it's us*. And just like w/MsScribe vs. GT, us*--CC's haters--just look oversensitive or just plain mean to the unwitting masses (this time including famous authors such as John Green) because they don't know her history, and probably cba to veify it all (and, tbf, it is pretty extensive, but still). So I don't blame John et al too much, all things considered (though I do wish he'd educate himself on the whole matter, if he's going to speak out about it).

*By "us" I'm more referring to the people who directly experienced CC's shady fandom movements, and less so the people on the other side of the fandom generation gap, like myself.
