Someone asked for Pagan/Wiccan wanks, so I went hunting
They seem well-behaved in general, but here's some amusing bits I found...

  • "It's Dyslexia! It's Laziness! You're Mean! You're a Fascist!" by achadachad & pope_guilty
  • "Wicca Vs. Neo-Wicca: A Never-Ending Drone" by gookachu & silvertree
  • "You Are Not God So Shut Up" by gookachu & killingants

    Fun with profiles!
  • Moderator blithely uses community profile to advertise her pay-per-tarot-reading website
  • Moderator carefully applies cross-outs so you'll know how PRIVILEGED you are to be allowed to join her witch club

Then there are the delusionals who think their three-year-olds are SPECIAL...check out the names, these kids are going to be soooo messed up as teenagers...
  • AstroVamp (child: Morgana Le'fay *weeps*)
  • IndigoPowder (child: Anastasia Lien ("Resurrection of the Lotus"))

    And then there's just sad.

I realize these are not strictly fandom-related. Is there a nonfandomwank community?

Erm, if you're looking for a Wicca-y Wank-ish community, there's always WiccaVent, a Yahoo group devoted to pretty much exactly that. Which can be wanky in it's own rights, but where else can you trace the steps of WiccanWade?

(Note to self: Need to compile WiccanWadeWank...)

    Hey, there! I'm on WiccaVent!

Yeah, it can get wanky, but it's had more than its share of bright and shining ka-pow! moments.

    Heeeeyyy...I recognize you.

And, yes, we've had some VERY good ones (well, you more than me seeing as I redefine the word "lurk"). Something special twists in my chest every time someone shows up with the intent to start shit and gets their ass run off. *sniff* Good times, good times.

I think that wanking about baby names is a whole 'nother issue. Though it is wonderful to see when wanks about religion and names collide. The result is so... meta, I suppose.

I like the story about the three-year-old who learned ancient Egyptian from watching The Mummy. That's a *great* movie for kids!

Yes. It's called LJDrama. I am of the humble opinion that the mods here may want to consider posting a link to it on the main template, as (as far as I can see) 6 of the last 10 posts here weren't fandom related. Fun!!! Hilarious!! Definitely wanky!! But not fandom.

    It confuses my Inner Blonde.

I used to like LJDrama.org, but now I find it rather boring and annoying. It's also a bit mean-spirited for my tastes. That probably sounds hypocritical, since I'm a memeber of *this* community... but over here, I think the vibe is more "Fandom is silly, let us shake our heads & mock". It's all in good fun.

Plus, ya'll wanked me & made me feel all special. *sniff*

I'm sorry but this just tickles me.

i had a large vocabulary from school (scored VERY high on the SAT's in that portion of the test) and i used the words around him.

This came from the same person who spelled "exercise" as "excersize."

    I'm easily amused.

I think I saw silvertree over at ljchristians trying to stir up trouble. Recognize the icon, anyway.

Also, that last would have gotten some real wankery if it hadsn't been specified that that was what they were looking for. It's sad enough that someone took it seriously ANYWAY.

Yeah because a person trying to inform other people that gay people are NOT going to hell simply because an old book, written by people with a completely different culture said so is SO being a troll.

Actually, this person is just a huge troll. Apparently, since I didn't believe her "1/3 of all people are homosexual because 22% of them are but it seems like less because they don't want to come out" thing and I also said "there hasn't been a genetic component found for homosexuality yet," that implies I think there's a biological component. And biological component=homophobe. I dunno. I think my head's about to explode.

    {Actually, this person is just a huge troll. Apparently, since I didn't believe her "1/3 of all people are homosexual because 22% of them are but it seems like less because they don't want to come out"}

Well I don't have the numbers but I think there might be some merit to that. Mainly because I don't think sexuality is something that can be tested and meseaured.

People can change and a person who thinks he totally het a 19 could have a completely different view at 30.

I'm not saying she wasn't wanky, and I certainly didn't agree with all her points, [was she the one who issues with tampons] but I don't think she's a troll or that she meant to be trollish.

    YMMV.

Hehe...I dunno, the thread she keeps blithering on to me about is pretty trollish.

Besides, I was more annoyed with the math thing. (I teach math.) The way she said it, she basically was calling the person an idiot for not knowing that by 1/3, she meant mentally adding onto this inflated statistic she already had.

Most estimates I have seen are around about 1/10th of the normal population, already taking into account people who have not "come out." So her figures seem out there and she'd rather attack me mentioning biology (which is a possibility) rather than just backing them up.

Maybe we should bring back Ideology Wank. That was where religious/political wank went back in the day on Livejournal. I could spare a code, although I can't mod (school's starting, I won't have time).

I can't find specific links, but classic Pagan/fandom wank is the whole clusterfuck with Mercedes Lackey's Diana Tregarde books.

Li'l background for the unknowing: a few years ago Misty was working on the Diana Tregarde series, which focused on a rather powerful witch whose duty as a Guardian was to, well . . .

Think of it this way. Diana is sort of like Buffy's Slayer side mixed with Willow's witchy abilities, and a moderate dose of Xena's looks.

Magick as portrayed in the DT books is also nearly identical to its portrayal on Buffy, that is to say a blend of factual Wiccan elements and a lot of the fantastic. Well, some factions of the pagan community got very wanky about it, painting it as anything from blasphemy (if such a thing exists in paganism) to gross inaccuracy. And there also arose a bunch of tinhats who became convinced that there really are Guardians and that Diana really exists.

The whole thing escalated into a giant mess involving death threats and stalking of Misty, including a nasty run-in with a fan at a convention, and as a result she doesn't do cons any more and dropped the series after the third book.

Again, I wasn't originally around for this wankfest, so I don't have any specific links or sources to cite. Her website, http://www.mercedeslackey.com , has a shortened version from her perspective though.

    Anybody else know?

HAHAHA! [info]xaoswolf amuses me, because if I remember correctly, he's the one that posted extremely obscene images in [info]cacklefans (before it got suspended). I think he's referring to that as well with his:
