Pokemon fans: a question.
This is embarrassing.
I have never played Pokemon. I didn't even know what a "mon" really was until I was clicking around TVTropes from a Shin Megami Tensei entry (so... now I know what a mon is, because I started with the trope deconstruction? Awesome).
I have a 3DS, enough money to buy maybe one used game or one new to start (depends), and serious love for MY POKEMONS. LET ME SHOW YOU MY POKEMONS. (best macro ever), but no idea where to start with this series. Is there a game that's particularly friendly to new players? Or should I just start with X or Y on the 3DS? Is this series really so insanely complicated that I'm doomed to being locked out of the loop forever?
While researching the games, my mother tried to convince me that I did, in fact, own a Pokemon, but it turned out she was thinking of Pogs.
