The newest Mystery Dungeon was really disappointing. That's probably my favorite of the Pokemon spinoff series, but the new one was way too short and there didn't have half the postgame the others do. I'd second Explorers of the Sky for anyone wanting to check it out.
As far as the other side games go: the Pokemon Ranger games are pretty fun but if you get sore wrists at all playing the DS don't buy them because it will not go well (you catch and battle by drawing circles with your stylus, which is harder than it sounds). Rumble Blast was all right but kinda short. Conquest is really different and I liked it a lot, but it can be pretty difficult especially once you hit the post-game missions. Pokemon Dash is an abomination and deserves to be set on fire.
