it looks like redcoats, but it isn't ([info]redcoast) wrote in [info]fandom_wank,

"Damon Lindelof was right"
So Castiel had sex with a lady in the last episode of Supernatural, and the fandom lost its mind, which is predictable ... but it lost its collective mind at at WB exec who had apparently just signed up for Twitter. The Fandom DeBunker (sort of like Snopes for the SPN fandom and widely appreciated as impartial) has some screencaps, unfortunately out of order, but you can get the idea. In short, upon being prodded by fans, Chad Kennedy said that it wasn't their intention for Castiel and Dean Winchester to be bi. Kennedy then valiantly took arms against a sea of troubles before ominously tweeting "Damon Lindelof was right" (which I suppose is a reference to this) and bahleeting his Twitter account.

To be clear, nobody is really certain what this guy's role at WB is, what his involvement in the show is, and nobody knew who the hell he was until like ten days ago.

Another fan has the same Twitter screencaps with helpful commentary: "The writers are fuck cowards right now. They know what they did. And they know what they started."

One tumblr user with the screenname Octoswan is not only a SPN fan, but also a housemate of Osric Chau, a young talented actor who works on Supernatural. She writes, "Haha so it’s pretty clear that Chad Kennedy doesn’t know what he’s talking about. Poor guy walked into the belly of the beast and poked the bear with a big pointy stick. He said some dumb, uninformed things about a sensitive subject in a fandom he’s admitted to only just becoming aware of. Methinks he didn’t get the memo. Totally his fault for not doing his homework, but gosh, what a silly gaffe! //sigh" And then suggests that fandom go listen to some nice music or read a good book.

Octoswan texts Osric Chau about the kerfuffle, and he writes a note on Twitlonger trying to help fans feel better, including bits about puppies, kittens, and hot chocolate. It appears to work. Writer Adam Glass also takes to Twitter to remind people that Chad Kennedy doesn't actually write the show, and then he adds a hint: "If u asks @PaulMcCartney what does a song he wrote mean, he'd tell you he had some ideas but would be more interested in what you think. BTW."

My original post is wrong; I could maybe afford two used or ONE new, if they price equivalently ... unfortunately, the best used game store in my area doesn't see a lot of Pokemon trade ins, so I may bite the bullet and try the new, shiny one.

I think I was worried that the games were more like the rumors I'd heard about crazy competitive battling -- you must know which Pokemon to hold on to forever, because it's suddenly useful (thirty levels later...), anyone who chooses X psych is an idiot, etc. But, hell, if I've survived the various branches of SMT and the wars of The World Ends with You, Pokemon can't possibly be worse.

I couldn't even play The World Ends With You because it was just too complicated for me, so you're ahead of me already.

And I know Pokemon purists would probably look down on me for the way I play the game, not even paying attention to some aspects that some people consider all-important, but I'm the one playing it and I do have fun, so...

I ignore any Pokemon purists who get snooty about how anyone could possibly play the game without resetting a thousand times for the best nature and blah blah stats blah. I've been playing the games since the original Blue and Red and I still form my teams based on a combination of having the right mix of types in order to balance strengths vs. weaknesses...and which Pokemon are the cutest. (Current example: my team in X right now has a Dedenne in it. I know it's yet another one of those Pikachu clones that probably have shit stats and I don't care cause it knocks stuff out when I tell it to and it's adorable. And way better than that little fucker Emolga.)

Yeah, that's basically my approach.

Dedenne is totally adorable! I have an Umbreon even though another Dark type would probably be a much better idea but I love Umbreon so I have one. And I have a Floette on my team because she's adorable -- I realize you trip over a Flabébé in the tall grass every five minutes so they're not a big deal Pokemon but still, she knocks out Dragon types and Dark types and that works for me. I'm just reluctant to evolve her because she'll become less cute, but I will when I have to.

(I also keep evolving Sylveons just to trade them because I'm addicted to that yarn-ball-to-the-head game. Sorry, I don't know what it's called in English because I decided to practice my German by playing the game in German.)

No clue. I think we all call it the yarn ball to the head game because it's better than the real name.

I have a horrible Rotom addiction. I mean, haunted lawn mower? Possessed washing machine? How is that not just the best?

It's called Head Up and is the only acceptable mini-game. (IE: It's super easy and quick)

Thank you! In German it's called Kopfball which works too I guess.

I actually worked my way up to the top level where you can keep going until you miss three times. I managed to score over 1,000 points once and get specially decorated Poffles and I thought I was really hot stuff. (Kidding.)

I actually enjoy the puzzle game but I'm not particularly good at it.

Forget the berries.

I think I've played the berry game a grand total of 4 times. It's so awful. Ditto on the Puzzle one as well. I think I've gotten up to hard on that? It's kinda rough though.

Oh I like Kopfball! I'm calling it that now.

I like the berry thing because it's easiest for me. The slide puzzle is awful on the tiny tiny screen.

I played my first internet battle last night, got my ass totally kicked, and had a great time. But you also never, ever have to do it if you don't want to.

Also OMG I am so in love with Wonder Trade I can't even.

I used to do random triple rotation battles on Black even though my Pokemon weren't even EV trained or anything like that at all. I won about a third of the time, which was often enough to make me feel like I wasn't totally embarrassing myself. So I guess there were some other casual people like me doing the random battles, and I did have fun doing it.

But I don't know if all the ways to internet battle with random people on X and Y are full of only people who take it so seriously I'd only annoy them.

(At one point I decided to have a Real Battling Team. I bred a Mienfoo with very good stats and that was about as far as I got before I gave up. But I did get a shiny doing the breeding so that was cool. I might try again.)

And I mostly breed my starters just so I can have something halfway decent to give away on Wonder Trade, because I love it too. Someone in Japan sent me a Ditto yesterday.

Wow, now I am making it sound complicated, but the game itself still really isn't.

I've been tossing Dittos onto wonder trade whenever I catch them. They're all named Sam Bell. I'm hoping to start a trend. :D

I love Wonder Trade so frikkin much, I can't even. Someone traded me a female Froakie they'd bred, which I thought was awesome of them. I then ended up trading it for a Scatterbug from Brazil - Savannah form, fuck yeah! Seven forms to go! - but it was still really cool. I might not have done so if I hadn't started with Froakie, but whatever.

I got a Charmander from someone else, which was great, because I picked Bulbasaur of the Kanto starters.

Someone gave me an Adamant Hawlucha and I got a level 19 Vaporeon along with a German Fennekin. Wonder Trade is super addicting. I'm breeding my super lucky female Greninja right now and I'll be passing out some of her awesome babies on Wonder Trade soon. Pass dat love around.
