luxshine ([info]luxshine) wrote in [info]fandom_wank,
And now we've got a tumblr for the event, in which anyone who has followed the wank so far (Especially the Project Eleanor/Tentmoot thing) can see the red flags coming up...

http://momentstomidnightlarp.tumblr.com/

Especially this two paragraphs:

"No, we’re not talking about “actually, we’re just going to hang out and watch zombie flicks if there’s not enough people.” This is more like “Ok, with 65, 3 hot meals a day aren’t gonna be feasible, but we can do one hot meal, sandwiches, and MREs. We’ll only need one picnic shelter, but that’ll cut down how many workshops available, and we’ll do a group event at the paintball range rather than renting it outright for the afternoon.” That sort of thing. The 10 days between the 20th and the 30th, the staff will be spending so much time planning and arguing that you’d think we were choosing the next pope, and then we’ll send everyone who put in an application an offer/proposal (which will also be published online) detailing EXACTLY what’s on the table and then - and only then - will they be asked for money, which will go directly to the Treasurer who will use it to pay only pre-budgeted expenses.

As far as what if something goes wrong…it will. That’s the nature of life. Hell, with the 1958 LARP, we had people get lost and come in late, props go missing, and I wound up running around so much pulling things together that I didn’t have time to cook and the day wound up being saved by the amazing Aliyah, among others. It was still a blast because I had an amazing staff, and it still actually went really, really, really well, but I also learned a lot, and in the end, I’m where the buck stops on all the mistakes, whether that was not realizing that I wouldn’t have time to be in the kitchen on the day of or simply not giving good enough directions to my house. Hopefully, though, I’ve learned a lot - I’m 30, and have had experience now working everything from a summer camp’s kitchen to a major catering company in the Napa Valley, as well as several jobs in the hospitality and tourism industry, so I’m not coming into this blind - and it’ll be nothing insurmountable. "

Seriously, why people still trust this guy enough to give him money? He just basically said that he has no idea what they're going to do with the money!
