Come to think of it (and this may just be my inexperience) -
Why can't you get $650.00 worth of food for 65 people?

I mean - yes, group discounts, but group discounts apply to catering. Which given that this is supposed to be a LARP-style retreat I'd believe they'd be purchasing from the store or... something. Which wouldn't give bulk discounts the way a catering company would.

If they're at a campground they could buy charcoal and make hot dogs + hamburgers without too much fuss. You buy enough water and supplies from like, Sam's Club to have on hand and Bob's your uncle.

Unless there is something I'm not seeing which I fully acknowledge might e true, I'd think the cost of food IN THIS CASE would be proportional to the amount of people eating said food.
