Victoria Bitter: The Embittering
Oh, how nice, someone's creating a little convention for the Supernatural fandom, and they're looking for staff members. Looks like the position of Event Director has already been filled, though, by one...

Andrew Blake. AKA thanfiction. AKA Victoria Bitter.

The event hasn't received much attention thus far, but everyone who's responded to the original post looks enthusiastic and willing to throw money at the idea.

Unsurprisingly, people from other corners of the fandom have begun to speak up, sharing stories of past exploits and linking to the book written by a previous VB/AB/TF victim.

Andy, aware of his reputation in fandom, has made several posts on his most recent Tumblr in the past few months, saying that the past is behind him and refuting the claims of people who are preemptively warning the SPN fandom about his exploits.

Only time will tell if he has really changed his ways, but all signs point to no.

One final note: misgendering is not cool. There are about 10 million reasons to mock Andrew Blake, but his gender identity is not one of them.

ETA: Now matured from "having just finished his 20s" to "30 with a lot of job experience", our hero has posted more details about the application process, explaining that everything might go wrong and that's just the way that cons work, and that pretty much all of the cool stuff mentioned thus far might be too expensive if they don't get enough participants. (thanks luxshine!)

Someone like that is going to be even harder to shake out of it; she's so convinced she's couldn't possibly be scammed that she'll cling to it long after the impressionable, low self-esteem 'children' back out and accept their gullibility. And scammers like Andy know that, that's why they prey on the proud. Not only will she cling to the lie longer than anyone else, but she'll be a good hook for reeling others in on. Surely someone like her wouldn't fall for a scam, so it can't be one.

Yeeeaaah, on top of that, she was also in their ask box earlier claiming that she'd KNOW if Andy was still up to his old tricks 'cause she's known him for a whole year.

winjennster: Oh yeah, the whole OMG ANDY'S UNSTABLE stuff. Well, I've been friends with him for a year now, and Ceirdwenfc has been for over four years, and we have yet to see all this huge drama everyone says happens with him. You know, I did insane crazy shit in my twenties that I'm not proud of. Doesn't mean I'm going to do it all my life. Everyone deserves a chance to reinvent. I just don't get you hate blogs. There has to be more to life than this.

And then again, in response to an anon who had concerns about their organization as someone experienced in organizing LARP events who "took us at least a year to make everything work, and we were only running for a few hours one night in a single community hall." claiming they've been working on it since October.

winjennster: Two things I need to clarify based on questions from your anons. Yes, the event will be insured, we are filing for that on the Feb 1. Two, this is not a "thrown together" at last minute event. We've been planning since the last one ended in early October, but had actually started seeking info for this one before that one ended. We do take this even very seriously.

Yep. People who think they can't be scammed are the easiest marks. Having an immense faith in one's own intelligence and self-confidence is the perfect weakness for con artists of all kinds to prey upon.

It may take her longer to see through it and make the jump to leave, and I can almost guarantee you when she does hit bottom over this, she'll hit HARD and find trust-- in anything-- nearly impossible to rebuild. I know from experience, unfortunately.
