This is now my head cannon. I have GOT to re-read the story, but from the vantage point of Neville secretly loving all the shaming going on.

He's not really inept, and when it counts he puts aside his kink. But otherwise? "Ooops everybody!! Look what I just did on accident!" Potions class scenes will. Be. Amazing.
