Entry tags:fandom: my little pony, far too complicated, i am the god of hellfire, illegality

Blind bag sized wank
A wild link appears <-- so there was some bullshit about 'kill a brony day' which is whatever because no one's going to go out and murder someone and fandom walks into walls when left unattended, but the reasons the person taking it seriously gives suspiciously leaves out 'because murder is wrong'

Quoted because that layout is horrendous:

up-with-bronies:

I’ve heard rumors of ‘Kill A Brony Day’, whether these are old news rumors or not, I don’t know, but I would like to make one thing very clear;

Do not cause physical harm to anyone, unless you have a justified reason that isn’t ‘they’re a brony’. I don’t like them either, but you shouldn’t hunt them down, since ‘they’re a brony’ isn’t going to hold up in court.

And you’ll just be fueling their self righteousness, so there’s a second reason not to kill bronies. Don’t make any of them ‘martyrs’

-Vinyl

To recap:

1. Fandom does stupid thing
2. Person takes it seriously, tells people to not go out and murder people because of fandom because that was totally likely to happen
2b. Fandom is dumb
3. Person's reasons neglect to say murder is wrong, but just says you cannot justify it to the cops if you kill someone for being a brony
4. Sep is more alarmed at that part than any of the other parts

Incidentally, there have been fandom related murders but it tended to be over infidelity.

Sep, plenty of people have no problem with killing people, actually, whether in theory or practice, and whether for pragmatic reasons or because someone does, indeed, have justice coming to them. For instance, most law enforcement and military, like myself and my family, are going to have this mindset (if not, they're in the wrong profession, IMHO). That said, yes, of course, it's usually wrong, but hardly always. Case by case basis.

And believe me, military & law enforcement look at your sensibilities funny too! Civilians say the darnedest things sometimes ;)

Jesus fuck.

Fucking grateful I live in a country where 90+% of police are unarmed, if your attitude is anything to go by. If law enforcement have no problem with killing people then they're in the wrong damned job.

(And in the words of Sam Vimes, law enforcement are civilians.)

I AM PRETTY SURE I SPECIFICALLY USED THE WORD 'MURDER' TOO.

Well, yeah, "murder" is generally wrong. But still case-by-case basis; sometimes it's the only and/or best form of justice. I, personally, have never murdered anyone, but neither have I been in a position where it looked like a good option.

Look, if potentially killing people is part of your job, then you'd best be mentally prepared, and killing better not be a big deal in general, except from the standpoint of potential legal repercussions, if your actions aren't entirely justifiable. Why do people think they have military recruits singing cadens about clubbing baby seals and dropping napalm on Vietnamese villages? (They're not supposed to teach those songs anymore, but they live on). The idea's to desensitize.

Oh good, with that I can buy a British can of soda.

I'm trying to figure out how we went 'murdering people over a show is wrong and you should probably include that as a reason not to murder people over a show' to murder being in quote marks and weirdass ideas about the military. Like, this is internet tough guyism taken to stupid extremes.

First MOS was 46Q Motor Transport Operator, ie truck-driver, ie convoy driver. Not going to give you my MOS after that. And both parents are career Dept. of Corrections (ie prison guards), thank you very much. I was raised by people who handled the worst possible people every day, and all their friends were either Corrections or cops or former cops.

And that's as much as there is to say about that.

So, was bored. Commented. Not particularly interested in more back and forth. This is why military often thinks of civilians as a different *species* That is the exact term we often use amongst ourselves. I, btw, am a civilian again, but once a soldier, always.

You've got a mod warning for using 'bored' as an excuse to be a creep. It's under the creepy bastard rule that the mods sometimes enforce.

Oh, wait, one thing: meant to say 88M, Motor Transport, not 46Q (which was the last MOS, whoops). I actually am tired. Good night for real now.

How are we supposed to relate? We're a different species.

(Which is, incidentally, not a term I have EVER heard any of the military members of my family, of which there are many, use to refer to civilians.)

lol not the members of my family or family friends in law enforcement or corrections either. and let me tell you...cops are some of the gossippiest, no-brain-to-mouth-filter-when-they're-relaxed people you will ever meet. ESPECIALLY MOUNTIES.

ten bucks says tryhard mcfuckass up there ~corrected~ their random string of numbers in accordance with finding more accurate google-terminology for what shit they made up about their jaerb. they honestly sound like a giant fucking liar, to be honest. too many details, too much stereotypical posturing. i'd say buddy up there is about as honest as thanfiction about their vocation and past career :D

Not in so many words, but there's the much-quoted analogy of criminals (or other enemies) as wolves, civilians as sheep, and police/servicemembers as sheepdogs: http://mwkworks.com/onsheepwolvesandsheepdogs.html

(I suspect the infamous "assholes, pussies, and dicks" speech from Team America: World Police of being a direct parody.)

Pretty sure that's the reason why we have unarmed, innocent civilians getting beaten and killed by police and military all the time.

Not to mention the cops and soldiers who end up with PTSD, alcoholism, and other problems partially as a result of desensitization. But sure, praise the idea of killing people without feeling anything, that doesn't reduce the value of human life at all.

But your civilians are *also* unarmed, no? That makes a world of difference.

TBH, I'd be perfectly happy if nobody had weapons over here, but that'll never happen, and it's a rough country in general. As Gollum said to Sam and Frodo, "We aren't in nice places."

But, uh, no - law enforcement are most assuredly not civilians. Not even in your country.
