-Many people were understandably demanding refunds after the abrupt cancellation, and con staff responded with: uh, we’ll comp your Sunday ticket… and give you a raffle ticket for some mildly cool stuff… oh yeah and you get to spend an extra hour in the ball pit! (Tragically the ball pit [in fact inflatable kiddie swimming pool filled with balls] deflated within hours of this post).

That shit always makes me sad when I see it happen.

Any time someone cannot offer a straight-up refund is a time that someone has been planning so poorly for contingencies that they've been hoping the sheer hype will pull in thousands more people than projected and push them over budget.
