RapeFic! Wank! I did miss it so...
My first report. My f_w cherry has been popped!

kittydesade thinks that everytime you write your kink, God kills a kitten. There's nothing new here, except for maybe the Tom Stoppard quote used so far out of context it makes me hurt on the inside.

But the real fun doesn't start until she posts links to her rant in random lj slash communities.

So far, everyone's been almost deceptively nice... But the wank is yet young.

EDIT: I just realized that this was already posted further down. *blushblush* So~rry.

Kitty De Sade, huh? Personally, I don't think S&M with cats is that nice either. Think of the shedding!

Fiction should not have murder or theft in it, because that's deeply offensive to crime victims and their families.

Fiction should not feature animals, because pet owners, zoologists, ranchers, and Humane Society volunteers will know instantly what you're faking and will be upset.

There should be no mention of food in fiction, because writing cannot possibly convey the experience of taste, and anyone who eats food will call you out for getting it wrong.

Historical fiction is bad, because you can't have been there and must by definition be misrepresenting and misleading your audience. What kind of message are you trying to send, anyway?

I'm glad we've cleared this up.

Correct. Everyone should just sit very, very still and not say anything. It's the Ayn Rand approach to writing.

My favourite part is when kittydesade, expert on sexual abuse victims that she is, sez that "the reflex after rape isn't to go cry in the arms of whoever, it's to hide it, like cats instinctively scratch to hide their dropings."

!!!!!

Does this mean that in order to recover from sexual abuse, women need to clean out their litter boxes?

Dood. I read that and was totally embarrassed for this woman. Does she sincerely not realize what a completely raving lunatic she sounds like? I pictured a female analogue of Gene Wilder in Young Frankenstein alternately typing this diatribe and petting her many, many cats...

No, it means that nobody should be taking their morality cues from a bestiality-lovin', BDSM-intensive scat freak.

By the way, can someone please tell me about this golden age of X-Files fanfic she speaks of? You know, where it was all well-written and dripping with UST?

Because, honestly, I was HOLYFUCKMEGOD 11 years old when I got into the X-Files fandom, and my memory might be a little bit shaky, but I seem to remember horrendous wanky flamewars and REAL stinkers of fanfic.

Well, there was some damn good X-Files fic, but that was just because the fandom was SO huge. 10,000 monkeys with keyboards and all...

But I think when she writes about glorious UST, she's got torch's Ghosts in mind and that's, like, it.

I like the idea that being around for first season X-Files makes one a dinosaur.

HUllo, what does that make me, reading K/S back in 1982? Primordial ooze?

Remember them? The horrendous wanky flamewars and REAL stinkers of fanfic are still showing up with regularity. Granted, it's not the regularity they did about 5 years ago, because a lot of the best wankers and worst writers have lost interest and wandered away (many to other fandoms).

The "golden age" of XF fanfic may have had more good, USTy stories than we get today, but that stands to reason, seeing as there were a billion people writing then and only a fraction of that today, and that many of the best writers, and some of the worst, too, have moved on to other fandoms (or ORIGINAL fic). She seems to forget that there were also many more stinktastic pieces of badfic crapola back in the "golden age," too.

She also seems to forget that her argument, such as it is, has been around since the beginning of time. I think the BOFQ rant is The Original Wank, the wank from which all other wanks were spawned. We should christen it the ProtoWank and hail its reappearance with palm fronds and popping of champagne corks.

Okay, hold on here...

I can't believe some of you people who write non-con, bondage, kink, slash, het, yaoi, yuri, femslash, mpreg (god I hate mpreg), bdsm, yukis and semes and abusive relationship. Passive rape. Gay rape. Coercion. Emotional and physical abuse. Emotional manipulation. SHIT.

Now, leaving aside the meaninglessness some of these (Yukis? I THINK she means Ukes, but honestly I haven't the foggiest...) and the fact that she repeats some things with different terms (Yuri AND Femslash?) but...

Okay, what kinks are left, honestly? Except, say, besiality...she's basically thrown out any possibility of romance whatsoever in fics...no slash, femslash or het.

In other words, seems like she was just making a massive list of words she didn't completely understand.

And, in other news, I want Yuki fics plz.

Butttttttt

Nothing signals hilarious bad writing like MPREG.

I love the stuff.

But probably not for the reason the authors intended.

Anytime Harry Potter accidentally winds up carrying Lucious Malfoy's baby, and Narcissa is actually a man named Bob, well that's just funny.

Well, see, I try not to read fic like that. I really do. I start out on the first page, reading a couple paragaphs, going 'hey. This is pretty well written, the concept is pretty interesting, why not' Get a couple more pages in, the romance starts to happen, and it's 'hmm... getting worse, going a little too fast, but I guess I can deal' and then I get to the smut.

WHOAAAA THERE.

Huh? Is it that she's found a cache of non-rated fics, or does she just ignore the ratings, or hope that they're wrong?

Even though it was posted further down, this was a fun one to revisit. I knew right away when she had to put a warning about the rant (in the community posts) in red text that it was probably going to be a doozy. It's just too bad she didn't answer my comments.

I'll publish my short stories, eventually my novels, and turn into the kind of writer that gets horrible bad-porn fic written about her characters. And if I see ANY of that, I will hunt you down and prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law.

... so, is it just me whose fondest ambition is to be a published writer whose fandom oozes PWP and non-canon 'ships, then? Damn, that must be where I've been going wrong all this time...

I had to restrain myself from posting a very snarky reply to that person's rant. Jeez, it's okay not to like stuff, but that rant was COMPLETELY over the top, as if she was trying to MAKE people stop writing slash, femslash, non-con, bondage, whatever their kink was. u.u;;;
