So there's a new mailing list in the wrestlefic fandom: Wrestling Fan Fiction is Evil. Already, the fen are up in arms over it, including, sad to say, some of my friends. Links to the mailing list are being passed around, people are joining the list just long enough to say how stupid it is and how they have better things to do than put up with these people, and wank is generally just flying in all directions.

It's all very silly, slightly reminiscent of the old hubbub about FW. Once again, we are reminded that no one should ever say anything bad about someone else's fanfic, even if it's done quietly, in an isolated location where people have to actually go looking for it and JOIN THE GROUP in order to read it and be offended. Not to mention, the point of the group is to make fun of *bad* fanfic, though admittedly that's not explicitly stated in the group info.

It's a beautiful wank, and teaches the lesson is that fandom should be a beautiful peaceful place where we all hold hands and skip through the daisies singing "Kumbaya." Never mind that we like to watch a show with people beating the shit out of one another.

I joined the group, of course. I'm so proud of my little fandom. *wipes away a tear*

Eh, checked it out, didn't look too bad. I mean, it's not like they're knocking the whole fandom, just the BAD writers in the fandom. *Hugs fandom and her collection of Hardyz slash.*

fandom should be a beautiful peaceful place where we all hold hands and skip through the daisies singing "Kumbaya."

Except in this one, where you're usually interrupted by glass shattering and J.R. screaming "That's STONE COLD'S music!"

And every single time, JR freaks out, as though Stone Cold had been lost at sea seven years ago and we'd all given him up for dead but OH MY GOD THERE HE IS! THE RATTLESNAKE IS HERE, KING!

Um. Forgive me if I'm stereotyping here... but I would expect the wrestling fandom to be the ONE fandom where no one else cared if they really hurt the feelings of strangers.

After all. It's wrestling. Beating people up for shit and giggles. Isn't a level of agression necessary for all wrestling fans?

Welllll, no. It's not like people are REALLY beating each other up.

As far as the fandom itself, it's actually pretty non-"aggressive"...I mean, flames and flame wars are pretty rare, especially compared with other fandoms. That's what made this wank so very special, you see.

You mean it isn't?

Considering the amount of badfic available in our tiny fandom, that they've only highlighted a few so far, shows remarkable restraint.

Well, I think wrestling fan fiction is evil, but that's cause I hate televised wrestling and wonder why anyone would like wrestling ff. But that's just me, and if you like it or write it, more props to ya.

Wait...anti-wff by wrestling fans? That makes my brain hurt. You'd think they'd *like* wrasslin' ff...

((having to listen to someone blaring wrestling at 5 am("Ah can't hear the tv!") when you're leaving Paris at 7am is enough to make anyone despise wrestling. me espesicially.))

There's a lot of BAD wrestling fanfic out there. More Mary Sues than you can shake a stick at, and since one of the fanon pairings is two brothers, lots of bad incest fic as well.
