Sorry y'all, but I had to step in and make this journal registered users postable only.

You know, I have faith that you all can stick up for yourselves against the riff-raff, but I'm not going to let multi cut and paste posts of text happen. It's definitely network abuse and that is a banning offense. One that doesn't get you a warning.

So, no anonymous posting to fandom_wank. Most of you have many, many codes. Hand 'em out to people who want to participate.

I've deleted the posts of blocks of text, but I've left the others. We'll have the full TOS up later today or tonight.

It's one thing to make an idiot of yourself for the world to see and point and laugh. It's quite another to attempt to fuck with my servers. Fucking with my servers makes me very, very irritable.

Do. Not. Fuck. With. Me.

You don't want to test me on this one. Trust me. Or do you need references?

Thank you. The whole thing was getting ridiculous.

Thoughts, anyone, on how we can go about setting up an account code bank? Maybe just a post with a list of people willing to donate codes, and how to contact them?

I second you on the code idea. Maybe we could set up a community or something?

There's already a community. It's called codes

Some dipshits (I noticed one of them seemed to be StormFreak*, which used up all the available quality of mercy I had for her) decided it would be funny to post huge block quotes of something by Goethe to one of the threads on f_w. Another was posting pictures, which was a pain as they took a long time to load.

Not surprisingly ZR decided that enough was enough, and I'm right behind her on that. If you look down the threads on f_w you'll find it, but I can't remember which one it was.

________

* the constant claims that the denizens of f_w are obsessed with her didn't help my temper much, either.

It was the thread I posted about She-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named's LJ. She reposted her 10 Commandments piece of shit and some stupid pic *award*. I deleted them once but she just re-posted them.

I asked elsewhere, but I'll repeat it - does the same apply to piss-heads posting pictures just to use up bandwidth?

(Reply to this)(Thread)

Ahhh
[info]zorrorojo
2003-03-24 05:33 pm UTC (link)
But the beauty of that is that he's using his own bandwidth. Even better is that if you open the picture in a new window, it takes you right to his site.

When you embed a picture in a page like that, the picture is served from where it's uploaded, eating the bandwidth there.

He has only himself to blame if he uses up a lot of his bandwidth. Posting a picture, served from your site, to a high traffic site isn't very smart. Unless you have unlimited bandwidth. If that's so, then go you!

Ah, I didn't know that - but then I don't know much about how web pages work. Sudden thought: what about if he links to a site which isn't his from a journal like f_w in the hope of wasting someone else's bandwidth? Would that be a service attack that looked as if it was coming from your servers? Not that it matters as you've banned anonymous posting, but I'm curious.

Yes - ditto on the curiosity. I'm not sure if those folks were linking from their own sites after uploading found pictures, or linking directly from the place where they found teh pics -- but I know they were doing google searches to find them -- so there was definitely a possibility of bandwidth sucking from whoever was hosting the pics. If it was the posters themselves, hey, fine, let 'em waste their money. If it was somebody else, there might be complaints eventually.

I can deal with trolling. Depending on my mood, I'll either engage or ignore - changing my mind at any point.

But the text posting. Uh-uhn, no way, you're banned for life on a network abuse offense. That includes spam bombing, dos attacking, attempted bandwidth churning, etc.

Last night, bandwidth spiked to double its normal level. Not acceptable.

As for the trolls, some people will find them funny, some pitiful, some boring, some fun, and some... well, they'll let the idjiots get to them. Hey, sometimes I fall for their tactics too.

I would be suprised, or angry. But these are some twisted people.

And it was the conclusion we came to before (on Blurty), showing that they're quite willing to do it repeatedly if we don't (remove anonymous). That's something which might be worth while taking up with their ISP. (Were any of us to be bothered with that sort of thing.)

Because that would prove that she's willing to go to a lot of trouble just to come here and annoy people, thus proving beyond a shadow of a doubt that she's the one obsessed with FW, not the other way around?

Then again, that didn't stop her before.

But there's no point in her getting an account, because she'll just do something asshatty like posting huge blocks of Goethe and get banned anyway. Why bother?

Personally I'd like to skip to the part where I never have to see a single post by her or about her ever again. I look forward to that glorious day.

*nods* The trolling wasn't as big of a deal as the posting of Thus Spake Zarathustra. The trolls themselves, assuming they weren't all one person, were actually pretty damn amusing - especially the one kid who was all "Don't fuck with us, it will all end in tears for you." I'm betting he's a poser baby-Goth.

Anyway, I totally understand where you're coming from. Allowing that shit to continue is like flushing money down the toilet.

Ah! Reading through the Domlijah thread (150+ comments, stop talking when I'm sleeping people!) have discovered much of it was an offshoot of me laughing at SF, I now feel ashamed *hangs head*

Oh, and here's a bit of whateverthefuckitwas that wasn't deleted.

Bah, SF leaves a nasty taste in my mouth. They could atleast be witty or in some way interesting, the only fun thing I saw in the whole thing was the "okay" icons. *nabs 'em*

All of the "Okay" icons I made. Only a few of them ended up in the thread, so I figured you might want to see the full collection. (Yes, I do have too much time on my hands.) Personally, I'm very fond of the last one that has Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett saying "okay" to each other.
