Because F_W is my metablog for stupidity
Coming on the heels of but they're not GAY (aka "but why do you write slash, 349,285,382nd verse same as the first") we've now apparently reached the point where some people have decided to stop wasting time with that pesky talking thing and instead supply helpful diagrams to remind us that all male Buffyverse characters are straight.

Not to be outdone in the world of icon snarkitude, Kita weighs in with her 100x100 sized opinion which, in spite of the disclaimer, leads to unhappy campers.

And they say art doesn't speak to the people anymore.

ahahahaha. I once made a diagram, complete with different fonts, connecting lines, and helpful explanations, to illustrate the Wheel of Gay that was s2 Angel. It actually ended up looking like a unicycle. And it was a far more worthwhile use of my time than those first icons, which are so insanely sad as to make me giggle.

I've been lurking/reading f_w for a while now and I have to say, I think this is one of my favorites--it makes me shake my head in disbelief, but it's not so bizarre that I automatically think it's a joke. Plus, it's illustrated!

Of all the shows to use as an example of the Very Straight and In No Way Gay, Angel is the last one I could imagine someone choosing. Even my mother sees it.

It's all part of the insidiousness of the shipper mentality, IMO. People get so tied up in one pairing that any other possibility is seen as a threat to their favorite. Never mind that it's all fiction (and non-canon at that, as fanfiction is by definition), or that their pairing may be just as (or even more ::cough:: *romantic happy-ending Spuffy* ::cough::) unlikely.

Oh, and the beverage slash tangent? Responsible for laughter-induced spilled tea coming dangerously close to my laptop. That's not a repair cost I'd like to explain...

Even my then-six-year-old daughter got it. We were watching s2 Angel (I know, I know, hush...she was weaned on Buffy), and it's the ep where Wes and Gun are being the Bickersons in the car, and she's like 'awww, they're such cute boyfriends'.
