So, guy makes pro-Bush/pro-America banners. Fair enough.

In the comments, wank ensues. While it's not fandom, and it's only a little wanky, I think it's worth it for:
"i added u! u rock and finally a no bashing president person! i have also joined that Bush_Rocks community and thats where i found your neato tags i put 2 of them on me bio!! please add me back! ^_^**"
which I think is a fair example of why people shouldn't be allowed to vote.

I think I've missed something. When did 'u' become a word in and of itself?

Apparently there's been much war-wank on Iconaddicts recently, as the admins had to clamp down on flamage from all sides and insist that all war-related icons go behind LJ-cut.

Nope, I haven't forgotten at all. Because I remember that Iraq had nothing to do with that. Whoops, icon designer.

*GACK*

Apparently one of the country-fan wankers (mind you, I love country music, so this is not a generalization) did this one.

I highly prescribe beatings for Darryl Worley as the source of blame for that icon. "Have You Forgotten" is the name of a new song of his that's getting pimped out the ass on country radio these days, especially since the whole highly idiotic Dixie Chicks debacle. Mind you, the song is a piece of shit, and it only serves to reinforce negative stereotypes of country singers/fans as ignorant rednecks. Why? Because it blatantly does equate 9/11 with Iraq. Basically, it accuses anyone who's against the war as an unpatriotic slob who's dishonoring the memory of 9/11.

The lyrics, should you dare to click.

And now that my annoyance at that proliferation of pablum has been voiced, I'm dangerously close to wankage myself. I shut up now.

Hmm...it appears that something quite out of the ordinary happened to several buildings on this "september 11" you speak of...my memory is itching for this event, and yet I can't, just can't, seem to recall...

Was that the time Sully and you...

No, that's not it...

Maybe when we got SO HIGH...

Why has there suddenly become a spate of "No, I won't put things behind a cut, it's my journal I can post as many high res pictures as I want."?

Is basic netiquette so dead? I personally just remove someone from my list until they're off my page, which is usually about an hour with my friends list XD

I have yet to understand why poor grammar and too many exclamation points are not yet punishable by swift, sudden death.

*puts on war-mongering redneck hat*

Erm. What exactly is wanky about that? If it's the netspeak, then, well... eesh, I hate netspeak myself. But I wasn't aware that netspeak, all by itself, made something wankish.

If supporting the war is wanky, though, then I have a problem with that, because I'm pro-war and I generally support Bush's foreign policy. If you disagree with me, that's fine, and since the pro-war/anti-war argument has already been beaten into the ground in a million places, I don't intend to start it up again here.

But I don't see anything wanky about politely expressing a legitimate opinion, even if your grammar is atrocious.

Oh, I should have made this clearer. I am a fool.

I don't think the banners are wanky - personally, I'm anti-war, but I admire anyone who will stand up for what they believe in - the wank was more about the "If you're going to disagree with me, you have to do it behind a cut tag!" in the comments. And the random bashing for no reason. And just too much plebe to handle.

at the whole "unfriending" thing.

I love this bit: you obviously didn't read my entry asking for any war related junk to be please put behind a cut tag.

Because you know, everything in your journal is there only for the benefit of those who have you on their friends list and you should be sure to carefully read the journals of all those who friend you to make sure that you are following their rules carefully enough.

Of course that only follows the wonderfully wanky: i'm sorry, but until you get out of this weird bushitus phase, i'm going to have to delete you from my friends list.

I love the whole thought that threatening to remove someone as your friend is the way to make them suddenly see the light and agree with you. Because, damn it, your own opinions are much less important than having a lot of friends.

Life is too short to try to please anyone but yourself.

IMNSHO <--- who obviously doesn't have a lot of friends.

Yes. I agree. Of course, I never read my friends entries. I just bookmark journals I like and visit them individually. Because I like making more work for myself.

What's almost wankier is his post that he's going to defriend people since he doesn't ever talk to them. But, you know, if you leave him a comment, he just might keep you.
