Seriously! Who the hell thinks child-rearing is *easy*, other than a delusional and newly-knocked-up 14 year old? It's not like it's something that's a total mystery until you find yourself with a kid - you see children everyday! You see the kinds of messes, catastrophes, trouble, and pain they cause! How can you drop one out, and then go "Oh, I didn't know it was going to be this much trouble! My bad!" Did this person *sleep* through life?!

	Jesus, I know. Even the girl in my High School who popped out a sprogling on summer vacation before Junior year knew that this was going to be a tough job. (Wierdly enough, she's a great mother, by the way. 	Which is also why I don't get this person's complaint - a well-raised and cared-for child will be well-behaved in public. No kid is perfect, but you can tell almost immediately if a kid has been cared for or not. unless that child has early-onset bipolar, yes, that child will be very well-behaved in public. ^^; personal experience with stories told about how i was when i was a kid sort of prove the point to me that there are always exceptions. heh. of course, how the parents react to the kid's acting up has a lot to do with telling whether the kid is trying to be properly raised or not.

The loverly, loverly alt.support.childfree newsgroup is even more fun. Really. You just need one indignant parent to wander in and a half dozen trolls come out of the woodwork and the newsgroup explodes in a fit of wank for a week (sometimes much, much longer), then dies down... and for weeks afterwards any n00b who doesn't follow proper delurk procedure or responds to a troll is treated with suspicion or shunned because they might be One Of The Breeders.

It's not as spectacularly wanky as it was a couple of years ago (all but a few now tend to ignore crossposts and reply to trollish breeder posts with cheese recipes) but every now and then I /love/ that newsgroup.

*sniffs and digs up the massive alt.fan.cecil-adams/alt.support.childfree flame-fest for old time's sake*

But in their defense, I'd have to say they've been getting this kind of crap a lot. The worst part, I think, is that the silly bint doesn't seem to be a troll. I think the part that cinched it for me was her doing that "If you don't talk about them!!1!" thing that we see so many bad fanfiction authors pulling when they get *gasp* constructive criticism. "If you don't like my fic, then don't read it! How dare you say anything bad about anything!"

And she *does* get pretty wanky if you follow her in the replies. ^^ A few of them needed some prozac, though, that much is true.

Agreed. For the wank is basically the whole 'this community isn't for me and here's why your a bunch of evil, child-hating heatens'.

Honestly if the community doesn't seem like your thing why the holy hell are you posting there! Really just find a different community, don't waltz in and *scold* the other members because they're not acting the way you want them to.

Heh... actually, I've been lurking in the childfree community for a while now. There do seem to be a few parents that are members of the community, but they're usually the ones that take the "live and let live" approach to the childfree lifestyle. Of course, there are also the "I must do a service to the CHILDREN and make these evil heathens see the light!!!" type parents, but without them, where would the wank come from?

Personally, I don't think it's been quite the same since LJ Drama started using it as its communal dartboard. For a while it seemed like they were listed there every other day.
