Buzzcocks Wank!
From the mailing-list buzzcocks@topica.com, we have proof that no one is too cool to wank:

such a purpose. Many people, me included, think that America feels it has
more right than any other nation to remember and impose its grief on other
nations whilst ignoring the events that happen elsewhere, often at the hands
of America or its allies.

Oddly, some people find this post somewhat incendiary.
post whatever the fuck you like. but...don't incongruently admonish the
rights of others to express themselves while simultaneously using this place
as a vehicle to state your own views.
extra points...spot the homoioteleuton, agamemnon, or anyone (oh boy, i'm
kind of a novice at homoioteleutons...bring on the pedants!).

=^..^=
And, of course, the innate wankery of being the first to mention something you don't want anyone to mention is soon noticed.
Well, that was out of left field, wasn't it?
I feel no need to express anything here about September 11, and it hadn't even crossed my mind to do so.
What I don't understand is why you feel you can ask the list members not to post anything about a certain topic, and then go on to share your own views immediately after.
Since I'm posting, I guess I'm now required to state what I feel the boundaries about posting are on the list. Well, there aren't many, but I always try to avoid blanket statements such as 'America feels it has more right than any other nation to remember and impose its grief on other nations whilst ignoring the events that happen elsewhere, often at the hands of America or its allies.' Postings like that are simply designed to get a reaction from other people, either positive or negative.
Perhaps there is a valid reason behind your asking us not to discuss 9/11, such as personal involvement or loss of a family member. That would be understandable. If you simply do not want it discussed because you disagree with American politics, that is not.
To sum up- When you have to make sweeping generalizations, I would like to ask you not to use this forum. Also, if you are worried about being offended by something someone posts, then maybe you should re-read your own before you hit the 'send' button.
I doubt the topic would have even come up here if you hadn't mentioned it.
It's not quite Godwin's Law, but it's close, and on only the second response. Is that some kind of record?
Can we please also not mention the Second World War? My mother's German, you see. She was bombed out (three times) by America and their allies (my dad's service, as it happens) and I'm a bit sensitive about it. I have already noticed how little attention this forgotten conflict gets on Remembrance Sunday and I'm pleased to see that the hateful practice of gathering together, being solemn and maybe crying a bit in memory of all the people who died and suffered in wartime has largely been eradicated by right-thinking people who feel the whole thing should be forgotten about.
Thanks
Carlos
Oh!
Speaking of not mentioning WW2, my mother was also bombed in London and all her friends got killed while flying spitfires to counter invasion and I can swear to you she has not forgotten but what can we do about it?
It's their life not ours so FUCK CANNON MERCHANTS and let music rule
I think the moral of the story is - don't object to the raising of a subject by raising it yourself. Doh!
