Kookaburra's Journal ([info]kookaburra) wrote in [info]fandom_wank,

Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
more L337 communities that unintentionally stumble onto the kinkier side of LotR
[info]_ratemy_journal is a community run by several 14 year old girls who evaluate your livejournal, based on how much time you spend on overriding the default codes. (Oh, yeah, and that stuff in the entries some times too.)

They get a little pissed when they rate several LotR fanfic journals in a row.

And somehow, they come out of the whole thing thinking that Frodo dies. WTF?

And dammit all, they deleted all of the comments made by other people. And [HINT] I just can't imagine what would happen if a bunch of people who are into random fandoms and hardcore kinks just happen to submit their LJ's at the same time. [/HINT]

seraphin is on my friends list. that amused me greatly. I was so tempted to give them my RPG LJ and see what they said. *g* (I play Sean Bean in a hospital AU and haven't bothered to do anything to his journal. ohh, they'd hate me.)

I think the "forty-year-old women shouldn't have livejournals! it's icky!" bit was the best part. Because, God knows, once you hit thirty you're done like dinner.

Oh, won't someone think of the CHRILDREN?!!one! For fuck's sake. The age limit on LJ is thirteen, quite old enough to know to avoid porn if it'll scar them. And people over 20 aren't supposed to have online journals? WTF?

I'd have been so much more convinced if the community journal wasn't a badly put together piece of crap, too. Have to scroll down to see the text, text box is far too narrow, entry headers are fucked up and indistinguishable from the main text, and so on. The background should not be the most grandstanded and appealing thing about a journal. As for her personal journal... distinguish your comments links, honey. And for the love of Christ on a pogo stick, clean up your title graphic! It looks like a cockroach shat on it.

(This rabid bitching has been brought to you by the empty coke bottle on my bench and my resulting pathetic cries.)

[info]_ratemy_journal has been rated.

you have poor literary skills. you go out of your way to criticise people with default layouts and yet yours is just generator with a picture of a japanese restaurant. "yr" all too young to drive. F.

Jeez oh man. So this is what illiterate teenie whelps do when the mall is closed. LiveJournal shall live in fear of the dreaded *F* -- which is OMG the ultimate rejection, especially when it's given out by a mallrat who listens to Good Charlotte. Must... not... slit... wrists...

...It's official. They have NO concept of web design. AT ALL.

Here's why: For starters, unless you have a DAMN good reason, titles should NEVER take up more than 200 pixels; 100 is often enough. Content should not be smushed to the right side for graphics' sake. For the best reading, black/dark hue on white/pale hue. NOT the yellow crap-on-black.

The concept, I admit, is not that bad. There are a lot of web forums out there (I frequent a large one--TutorialForums, run by Spoono and Absolute Cross) that do site reviews. (And, yes, I'm a little bitch when it comes to reviewing. I know what I like. Fuck you and the horse you rode in on.) Heck, I think RMJ is sort of analogous to Spiroo, in that sites are presented, and then rated. The difference is that the guys doing that stuff have at least a basic knowledge of web design outside of BML. (I, for instance, can design a website based entirely on CSS. And I have a small grip on Javascript and PHP.)

In short: Teenyboppers should put their efforts into more than just PSP and BML.

My favorite quote is:

Little kids. Little kids looking for other LOTR fans could stumble on...that shit.

This always makes me want to ask them a list of questions:

1) So what?
2) Do you think porn reaches in and rewires your brain?
3) Is that what happened to you?
4) They could read it on other sites, too, millions of other sites. Are you going to complain about that?
5) Oh, no, you used the word 'shit'! Little kids could read that!

As you can guess, I'm another of those peope who doesn't think the world needs to be sanitized for the protection of stupid people's sensibilities.

Well, I know that if I ever got around to doing a different style for my lj (the default is lookin' pretty good for me thus far) they'd hate what I made.

Because I tend to create completely BARE BONES websites. If I don't need an image, I don't use it, if I don't NEED an effect, it goes.

So, my "created" lj would look simpler than the default...

...maybe I should create one and send it in anyway. Would be a laugh...

You know, I hate to agree with the little dears on so much as the time of day, but why why WHY would any sane human being submit their LJ to be reviewed by a bunch of 14-year-olds who clearly hate just about every LJ they happen to stumble across, and then get all pissed off because their LJ gets a bad review? Why would anyone submit their LJ there to begin with? Will it really validate your LJ existence to have a bunch of small children oohing and aahing over your Good Charlotte layout?

I mean, the journal is wanky, to be sure, but it seems to me that submitting your LJ there is like posting on Fandom Wank and going "Look at the wanky thing I did! Aren't I clever?" It's really kind of sad somehow.

Houston, we have a new kind of stupid. Not only does she still believe that Frodo dies, but she doesn't know how to ban people from her own community, nor does she want to read the LOTR books because they'll SPOIL THE MOVIES:

I said it spoiled the movie. Wanting to see the ending to a movie is different then spazzing out and being obsessed with LOTR. Yes, I like the movies. That's pretty much where it ends. The posts are only deleted because that's the only way I can bann you people from continuing to annoy me. :) I have to delete a post of yours before it asks me if I want to bann you. I don't want to read the books, that would spoil the movie...duh.

Oh, and she posts her full name and home phone number on the internet.

I don't think any community has annoyed me as much as this one has.

Anyone even remotely trying to reason with these airheads get curt, bitchy, and immature responses. I was told to "go the fuck away." This same person bitches in her own LJ about how she's sick of rating journals and hates doing it "with a passion." Well, if she's so tired of it, then why won't she just STOP DOING IT?

Duh, stupid.

I'd love to see that community (and the other LJ-rating community that stellardreams moderates) collapse, and it looks like the only way that'll happen is if everyone stops submitting their journals for "ratings" that aren't even based on any sort of standard except whether their favorite colors are used and if their favorite bands are mentioned.

Sorry, but wherever did this girl get the idea that journalling is for teenagers only? What, so I'm 20 and I can't keep a journal anymore because I'm going to be a legal adult in a few months? Sorry dearie, but I'm kkeping my journal, and I'm thanking my lucky stars that I wasn't a spoiled, petty, immature girl who thinks that "the world revolves aound me" when I was sixteen...

Incidentally, I found the reaction she posted in her personal journal to all the commenting and deleting over at her journal rating community hilarious.

http://www.livejournal.com/users/obduratecrimson/18009.html

And she has the nerve to complain about people not using the LJ-cut when she has a number of long entries herself. Not to mention the fact that her personal journal's layout isn't that nice anyway. Personally, I thought that sandy80461 and alchemilla's layouts were much nicer.

And jeez, it's common sense not to post important personal information such as your address and phone number in the net. Some people won't even reveal their real age, because you never know what kind of sicko person might decide that you're perfect for his next target.
