Kind of pre-emptive, but..
Am I the only one that thinks this new Smash the Sues! LJ Community will be intensely wanky once it gets off the ground?

Nope, you're not alone. I first saw it advertised by [info]sailormoonsues...and...well...that journal is a bit wanky to start with.

And just from the name...hell. [info]marysues is there for joking around, but it's not intended to make bashing sound like a holy crusade or anything.

Oh my god yes. I mean putting "A community specifically for the finding and ripping apart of Mary Sues" in the userinfo is just begging for it as far as I'm concerned.

As if there is anything save the extinction of the human species that would get rid of Mary Sues. I smell a giant, neverending flame war a-brewing. Let the war between smashers and MS authors begin.

I don't think it'll last long enough for it to get wanky.

*raises an eyebrow*

Looks like another victim of the dreaded 'Taking Things Far Too Seriously' malady.

*pets her sense of humour protectively*

;P

Apparently not. Because how dare those fanfiction authors breathe the same air we do, eat the same food, drink the same water, and be able to go out in public without being spat upon?!

I know, honestly! And it's not as if as almost every writer hasn't created a Mary Sue story anyway.

Oh wait. EXCEPT THAT IT IS.

If you guys think the LJ community marysues exists just to hate on the authors of Mary Sues, you couldn't be more wrong. In fact, hating on the authors is explicitly forbidden.

*nodnod* We get a little caught up in the snark sometimes and it can wobble over the line in places (it's a big community, laws of averages and chaos theory and all that), but in general it's really just supposed to be a) a place to commiserate and b) funny. :)

Exactly we don't hate the authors, or at least we really do try not to, we hate the character. Really the two things are seperate.

I'll agree that the new community seems to be taking it a bit too far.

Those "Marysue" Communities at LJ are all full of insane gits who don't know what they are talking about.
