Our own special tin-hats
Since sometime in very late 2002, the game Brave Tamer came out and ZeedMillenniumon was revealed to be the final boss in it. The Digimon fandom wanks, as always, about name origins. The origins of this particular name were up in question, but someone named "The S" came out and said that it was actually "XeedMillenniumon" and was named after a character in the Book of Noga. Nogan mythology. Whatever. Okay! No one questioned this and it was generally accepted by all.

However, later down the line one college student sought actual references to this "Book of Noga" or anything having to do with Nogans in general (stubborn scientific curiosity, very annoying). It never turned up in various library searches, none of the archaeologists this person studied under had a clue, and eventually this person decides to go to the source of the Nogan rumor. Said person brings it up in a name origins thread and never receives an answer from The S, though later in the thread others pipe up to ask about this mysterious rumor. Still no answer from the originator. Subject is dropped.

Eventually someone decides to share with us a nifty tidbit, which eventually devolves to asking for name origins for other digimon. Cue wanking from the "Noganists." Jurei, an anima in a tree (or tree spirit if you like) as far as Japanese folklore is concerned, is now mysteriously from "Nogan Mythology." Later on in the thread we go from Noganism as a mythology to Nogan secret societies. Okay!

Time goes by, and it becomes painfully apparent that anything having to do with Ryo and/or Millenniumon (characters whose only starring role in Digimon was in a handful of Wonderswan games) will eventually devolve to "Noganism is a fraud/Noganism is REAL!" wanking. So it was only inevitable when a British fan has his Ryo backstory comic published and decides to share it with us. All's well and good until someone brings up the Xeed/Zeed things (though, there is a bit of kefluffle over the meaning of "koibito," which to you non-Japanese speakers means "lover" or "sweetheart"). Chaos erupts like a dozen fanboys whacking to Sora/Mimi porn. Then the Nogans are equated to Masons. I bet these people believe in mermen from Atlantis and little green men too.

Wank on, Digimon fandom, wank on!

Pssst. Your elitism is showing.

:x Sorry about that, I should be more careful. Wasn't meant to be elitist, just explain what the word meant because thank god there aren't as many raging anime fans here as there could be.

No offense taken here. I don't speak Japanese and would frankly have been way more suspecting of elitism if you'd posted the word without explaining what it meant.

God...wanky as ever. But it's only to be expected from a fandom that still wanks over season one Takari... >_>

I tend to believe the Noga thing is crap. When I had my Digimon encyclopedia, I went with what the S said because it was better than having a question mark there. Every time he tried to push the "jurei" is from Nogan mythology, too! thing, I was like uh-uh. No way a word that's been in the language for how ever many hundreds of years is from some mythology no one's ever heard of. *eyeroll*

You realize you totally have no excuse for that one.

Aren't you glad you left the fandom when you did?

Also, The S actually tried to pull that "jurei = Nogan!" thing on you too? Amazing, I thought he was smart enough not to use that on a professional translator who probably knows more about the Japanese culture than he does. Guess not!

It's fun poking at his house of cards, it seems to wobble every time someone tries to use that newfangled "logic" thing on it.

God, you don't know.

He was quite adamant about it. I'm like, dude, when there's an obvious Japanese or English source, there's no need to search for something so obscure as to be ridiculous. The only reason to give the slightest creedence to the Xeed thing was because there was seemingly no other answer. After reading the stuff on WtW there, I think the Zee/Zed combination actually seems quite likely, and makes sense as Z is the last letter of the alphabet and Zeed Millenniummon is the big bad final boss type.

O.o; Geezus, I had no idea that that kind of stuff was wafting around the fandom--I only was vaguely aware of the shipping wars. ::suddenly, very, very happy she left in the middle of season one:: I'm honestly surprised you lasted as long as you did. ^^;

I had fun with the encyclopedia and translating the cards and all. If there were a way to separate that from the fans... :p

Ignore all e-mails pertaining to them and pretend the fans don't exist. Worked for me for awhile, but the fandom is like a train wreck.

Hey, don't call the Nogan a bullcrap, ok? Only because you don't know anything about it, it doesn't means that this is false! For example, do you know something about the Masons secret rituals?

2. Yes. Yes, I do. If this guy had bought any one of a hundred books, he could, too.

That S person shows up a little ways down the thread, babbling something about the "Hokuto Shinken" and the "Charlot Dynasty":

Just because you've never heard of something doesn't mean it doesn't exist...</br> Does anyone know what the Hokuto Shinken was? Or the Charlot Dynasty?

I don't know about the second one, but the second one is here. What sort of proof is this supposed to be? o.O

Man, you know what? Every time I read someone insulting Noga, it really hurts me. Seriously. So please, if you don't understand something, don't ridicule it.
