This post seems another in a sad trend of petty grudges being tarted up as proper wank. There is no conflict here, or even a fan getting overly up on herself. She used her own appearance to illustrate how characterizations can be manipulated in a negative way. That's hardly calling herself a great beauty and expecting everyone to fawn over her.

Meta does not equal talk-that-sounds-smart. It's a literary term used to indicate breaking down the barrier between art and the audience. Taricorim is not engaging in meta discussion in this thread. She's just talking about fic. Funny how anyone who seems remotely intelligent and dares to take herself even a little seriously is a target for mockery. I'm puzzled. I don't see how this is a question of her being right. I don't even know where you're drawing the stoning um, thing, from. She used her own appearance to make a point. She didn't call herself attractive outside the context of that. She didn't say people who disagreed would be stoned, or even maligned in any way.

You're doing a good job of proving my point. She did something wanky in the past, therefore she is Teh Wank For Life!!11one!!1 You could stand to try a little harder for this one.

If she is pretty and smart, there's no more reason for her to be ashamed of that than there is for her to wank on about it. You're inferring that she's pretty, based on the example of how not to describe characters, and taking offense at her daring to talk about herself. Um. Wank?

Also not seeing an awful lot of wank. Mildly wanky, but not enough to be interesting purely for wank's sake. (The discussion was kinda interesting, but I'm pretty sure most of us have seen it before in one fandom or another.)
