EQ Ate My Boyfriend
OK, it's more gaming than fandom, but wank it is.

</a></b></a>[info]poeticsadness posted a screed against Everquest. When the responses weren't all hugs, she started deleting posts for being mean, and finally locked comments altogether.

Back in her own journal, she complains a bit more to a more sympathetic audience.

ahahahaha. wonderful.

But honey, you need icons. You are nothing here (nothing I tells ya!) without snarky icons.

Icons?

Let's see...

I have <a href="http://www.hellenback.com/lj_userpics/>some icons</a> although most are just uncaptioned crops. I just never got around to captioning/uploading. Suggestions?

EQ ate my boyfriend's brain! *snif* EQ turned him into a jerk! *sob*

Man, if my boyfriend ignored me like that for Everquest, I'd be singing the praises of EQ to the skies. Better to know early on that he's an ass, ditch him and move the hell on.

"That post went kinda well. People took offense to my right to delete post. I deleted them if they were off topic and seemed mean/insensitive. Due to that, the comments were in the 30s about people basically whining."

She forgot some tags. Here, let me fix it.

I hope she doesn't take offense to my right to skew her words. I mean, deleting, misleading...it's all the same.

besides her boyfriend being an ass, there's the flabbergasting and apparently honest opinion that communities are not for discussion (if it doesn't agree with her).

I like how she took offense at a person who pointed out that there's a community devoted to exactly what she posted about. Apparently trying to help someone out by directing them to a community of like minded folk is mean!

Yeah, but he was being such a mean fuckchop by telling her to take her rant to another community. I mean, don't you see that they're just trying to write off her deep emotional pain and loneliness because EQ sucked out her boyfriend's brain!?!? [/sarcasm]

Dude. Maybe the problem isn't EQ. Maybe the problem is that your boyfriend is a lackwit.

That's not quite fair to the boyfriend. Honestly, which would you rather do, spend time with her or chew your leg off in order to escape the bear trap of her emotional neediness play EQ?

You have a point there. After all, from the way she struck down any comments from anyone who disagreed with her, it would seem that she's no prize herself...

Holy carrots! I'm quoting this because Miss Placed Angst says she's gonna delete it.

cyron quotes poeticsadness: "I did apologize but that was overlooked. Therefore I took the comments off and thanked the nice people that gave comfort to a hurting girl"

cyron writes: See, I guess where my problem came in, is that I didn't see this. I saw the comments being removed, even when people were trying to help you. I made my comment on the issue, and then I went off to do something else. I came back and they were ALL gone. I had no idea if you had shared your thoughts on the matter, if you'd apologised, or flamed people to hell. Because the posts were gone, as was our ability to talk about it.

Please don't think I intended the post I made as a personal attack on you. That was not my intention. Yes, I was angry at the whole ordeal, and I make no bones about that. But I did have some insight on the whole issue I would have liked to share. I have a friend who had a similar issue with Counterstrike, and his clan play. He has a child and a wife, and his family was concerned. But my comment would have been in the direction of how there was more to it than CS. To fix the problem, they had to fix the other problems. And I didn't want to put all that thought in to a post if you were simply going to remove it.

I'm not an insensitive person, and never have been. However, I am a HUGE believer in talking about things that 'cause problems in my life. So I use my journal, and I use communities. Sometimes, the communities aren't the haven of understanding people you would hope for, but still, most people out there do have something interesting to say about their perspectives and thoughts, and I just felt a little saddened and annoyed that you apparently didn't want to hear anything that challenged your viewpoint on the situation.

Please come and share your thoughts on the matter in the community post I made. That was my intention after all. I want to get people talking about it, most especially people who disagree with me. Otherwise it's not really a discussion but a multi-user monologue :)

poeticsadness quotes cyron: "I just felt a little saddened and annoyed that you apparently didn't want to hear anything that challenged your viewpoint on the situation."

poeticsadness writes: See, now you're attacking me in my own journal and dragging on the issue. That was not right and highly disrespectful. I would not go to your journal and do such a thing. I would have stopped talking about it. I do feel that you've attacked me and I will remove your post because it. Sorry if I have offended you. I'll also refrain from joining your discussion since it seems so many people are rude for no apparent reason

Umm... I'm sorry, but that's not an attack. That's someone taking the time to talk to you about your problem. An attack would be... say... shut the fuck up you whiny little snot.

That is SO not an attack! Cyron was totally thoughtful and reasonable.

I definitely feel sorry for the boyfriend now. I'd dive headfirst into the monitor to get away from such a hypersensitive, defensive damn control freak.

I think we should organize a rescue, like PETA "liberates" lab animals. We could put the boyfriend in a Wankees Protection Program where he can play all the EQ he likes without fear of a Water Balloon O' Drama exploding on the back of his head when he least expects it.

It's not so much that we need a Wankees Protection Program as a Wankers Corral.

I'm actually kinda fascinated by her posts about the whole thing. She's still griping!

Also, if it were wrong to delete post, it wouldn't be an option. I have a right to do it and will if I see fit. Sorry if I see flames as unwelcome.

You know, if it were wrong to gut someone with a Swiss Army knife, it wouldn't be an option. C'mon, people even come with a navel as a built-in starting point! You're obviously supposed to use it as you see fit.

I doubt I made many fans due to the deleting and my perception of post being mean due to insenitivity. It makes me sick that people are just mean for no reason. Makes me wonder why I havnen't disabled posting in all the communities I'm in.

Yeah! You go, girl! Because the Internet should be ONE WAY ONLY!

What. the. hell?

EQ is good when your bf cheats on you on it. Hmm camping out for hours fighting rarely spawing giants for an item for your erudite female friend? All cause she's just a friend? Yeah..........ok. Call me stupid.

Yeah, he couldn't possibly be helping out a friend/fellow clan member...he HAS to be cyberfucking her. I'm sure that's what a large amount of the EQ players pay that monthly fee for. Would she be thinking the same thing if he spent all that time with a male character? Hmm, maybe then she'd want to watch ;p

Can anyone see why I have such a negative association for this game? Yeah , EQ is fun when you're not the one being neglected because of it like I had. Thankfully, that guy is an ex...one I will never go back to.

She says she's glad she broke up with him, yet one someone on her LJ goes, 'you're better off without him, he sounded like a jerk', she goes off on them for being meeeeeean.

She does that to BOTH comments, neither of which strike me as rude at all. This chick has some security issues.

The ex should thank his lucky stars that he's no longer with this headcase. Geezus, I'll take the life of a hermit EQ addict over having to deal with that walking stack of issues any day.
*is tempted to start up a charity fund for the poor guy's monthly internet and EQ bill*
