Thus proving that wank is not restricted to the twentieth century!
Once upon a time there was this Harry Potter role playing game. And this game was named Walpurgatory and its gimmick was that it took place in the eighteenth century.

Last weekend that game imploded from within.

It all started with a post made last Monday by the mod in which one of the players was detailing anonymously some troubles she'd had with other a few other players as a way of illustrating how happy she was that the mod was changing certain things.

One of those players decided a few days later that she wasn't happy and the next day the mod did lay the smackdown. To which about two-thirds of the members responded to by leaving.

And then... came the fall out.

"I'll just consider this a learning experience."

"Don't bother joining." "Hah! You are all SHEEEEEEP!"

"Hah! I shall quote Chicago and 'flame' you in Latin!"

"Dude. Weren't you the one who called our friend EVIL?"

"She called me EVIL? For THAT?"

"Hah! I shall flame you back with more Latin!"

"We are not sheep, damn it! We're a snobby clique if anything!"

"GODDAMN IT! Why do I have to keep repeating this?"

"I shall hit you over the head with a SCANNER! :)" (formerly locked)

"I didn't want to do this. But you have FORCED me to post the chat logs."

"You guys are like sooooo immature. But I am not because I have French subject lines."

"...but I tried to be NICE to her!" (BRAND NEW WANK!)

Edited for more wank. And again. God, that was a wanky weekend in HP-land.

Overly complicated RPs that try to force people to be historically accurate are unescapably doomed to implode.

I think there should be a rule that anyone who jumps on the "I'm QUITTING!" bandwagon is automatically wrong. The admin does seem to be pretty flakey, but all of this could have been sorted out by some good old communication.

Whenever a lot of people do something, that doesn't mean it's a bandwagon. Sometimes lots of people quit because things are fucked.

It's the mod's responsibility to communicate. Of course, this particular mod was more interested in getting wasted and posting about it in his journal, while the players who were trying to communicate with him wondered where he was...

Seems to me like you've got an axe to grind here though... This has a distinct flavour of 'look at us go... we rock...'

Not helped when I look at the comments and see they're mostly provided by you and your crew... it is wanky, but I think the wank is dwarfed by the 'aren't we cool' flavour.

Er, we're not all that historically accurate, really. We tried, and gave up. For one thing, the Purebloods are all still mired in anachronism anyway, just as they are in the Potterverse 90's.

But then, Walpurgatory was absolutely not even remotely historically accurate, and part of the problem was that the mod could never make up his mind whether he wanted to be historically accurate, or just oppress women and harass queers. (Not that women weren't oppressed in the 18th c. but he at times seemed to have something more like the Taliban than the era of Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley and Abigail Adams in mind.)

Besides, I could have lived with the historical inaccuracies if the crazy woman hadn't been so insistent upon telling us about her character's feline grace, martial bearing, lustrous hair, rippling muscles, and saturnine brow. One or two of those is okay but all together they sort of screamed: MARTY STU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The scanner chatlog was so good in its wankage that it made me feel happy to be myself because it meant that I would never have to chat with Lydia, ever. I have never before experienced the urge to reach right through a screen and choke someone that I knew nothing about and was talking about something that had nothing to do with me or anthing I cared about.

Also, that was self-wankage pulled off really well.

Ahahahahahahahaha. Now thats totally funny. Honestly, I think the "wankers" are pretty much only Miss "I play a hunky poo", Miss "I'm elite because I post in french" and Miss "I <3 the GM U SUX I pity you because I'm so great"


Specially the later. Theres not much of her, but in my opinion, she's actually the worst of the entire bunch.

Take Miss "Orion is great". She's just a bad roleplayer, thats all. forcing things on other characters = simplest proof for that. She wants to show her character of, ie basic Gary Stueism. Nothing special.

Take the second - she's on their side apparently and uses the stupid "sheep" thing, which disproves her from the start. Everyone who takes a group of people and claims they only do a right thing becuase they have no own opinion is retarded, plain and simple. Its the most disgusting and stupid argument trying to devalue others opinions, and thus worthless. Certainly worse than Miss "I want to <3 Orion!!111", because unlike that one, she tries to appear all intelligent and understanding, when in reality she just wants to insult.


And finally, Miss "come back and we will forgive you(most of it he he he he". That thing probably is the daughter of her brother with her niece.
She's insulting from the beginning, and its also obvious that she does not care for the other side, she just wants to do two things.

-show her perfect reasoning off
-flaubt herself because she is soooo kind to give the other side a second chance.

She doesn't care for anything said, she's like a bulldozer out of control who's just rolling on and on.


I really suggest this three girls to go and play F.A.T.A.L
They seem to be the proper type of player for that abomination.



While I don't know what a "wank" actually is, I still think this entire thing is funny, almost as funny as, say, the incident with that GURPS Freak :3

Dear god, this reminds me of my LOTR RPG days. It degenerated in much the same way as this one did and I'm sorry to say I didn't act as mature as I would have liked either. Thankfully, I managed to get out of the situation, but not before someone posted emails I had written as "proof" of my wrongdoings in said RPG.

It's really a shame there aren't many RPGs where people can get along with one another. I've learned to be very cautious about joining any.
