One thing I've never understood is why so many (read: not all) LotR fans are so condescending toward HP. I mean, if it's not your thing, I'm not going to bitch, but seriously, the two writers have exponentially different styles and plots--you can't compare them. At all. It's apples and oranges. You can't even compare them on a technical level because they both have their strengths and weaknesses. In my sphere of experience I've never seen an HP fan with half a brain rant about how Tolkien is complete garbage and JKR is the BESTEST WRITER EVAR!!!1111--so I don't really get it coming from the other side. o_O

That said, I'm absolutely amazed how many of them jumped for the bait and didn't know it was a troll. Do they have some sort of a Wank Helmet preventing them from spotting an obvious troll attempt? *snerk*

	I can understand that some people don't recognize a clear troll like that one, if they haven't been to online discussion places much, but that many... shakes head I am in HP fandom, and occasionally read LOTR stuff. They can't be compared in my opinion, they have a completely different style, and the audience they're meant for differs as well. (Reply to this)(Parent)

They're both fantasy multi-part book series with multi-part movie incarnations, and the movies are being released at around the same time. The ranters about HP are probably just angry about HP getting valuable press and attention that would OBVIOUSLY go to LoTR if those dumb children's-book-reading fans didn't have half a brain!

Because, like, how dare LoTR not get all the attention in the world.
