"You're a bitch!" leggyslove posts a batch of screen caps in her LJ from the Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King trailer. One of the pictures is not put behind a cut-tag, and finduilas_clln asks if it can be so as to avoid spoilers. dreagonfli flies to leggyslove's defense, stating that screencaps are not spoileriffic. Turns out, finduilas_clln doesn't even care for herself, but for m_l_h, who wants to remain blissfully ignorant of everything in relation to ROTK until it plays in theaters this December, and who is not even on leggyslove's friends list. Various people join in to convince her that seeing a picture of a main character wearing a hood isn't particularly spoily, as we've already seen him in that cloak with the hood down for two years. m_l_h claims that any image or soundbite from the movie is a spoiler. Others counter that the books have been out for 50 years, so there are no spoilers. m_l_h is dumbfounded that anyone would post anything about the movie without cut-tagging it, and asks another person whose friends list she is not on not to create ROTK image icons, for fear of her seeing spoilage.
Censorship is mentioned. The definitions of common courtesy, flaming and proactive are debated. A good time is had by all.
