Disney wank!
First post, first wank, yadda yadda yadda...

This wank is more than a few years old, but it still runs through the ranks of Disney fandom today.

If there's one "BNF" (in quotation marks for reasons explained later) who's either shitted on or worshipped as a major deity in Disneyland fandom, it's Al Lutz. Lutz's sordid history with the fandom began on Usenet, which, as we all know, is home to wank of various sorts.

Lutz was a BNF in the online Disney fandom world. He ran the popular DIG (Disneyland Information Guide, spun off from his own Disneyland FAQ) and was one of the more informed members of the newsgroup alt.disney.disneyland. He seemed to be happy being a Disney fan and there was no wanking involved.

The beeeeeeg kerfuffle happened when Disneyland announced that they weren't going to build a "Westcot" (west coast version of Epcot in Orlando) and instead made plans for Disney's California Adventure. Lutz said "OMGWTF! U assholes anally raped me! U killed my childhood!!!! I hate Disneyland now!!!!!!111111oneone"

Lutz turned self-proclaimed Disney activist. He used his BNF powers to put pressure on Disney execs. He used alt.disney.disneyland as his own personal forum, telling people that the execs didn't know shit from shinola and pointing out how bad Disneyland has gotten since the new management stepped in, i.e. the same management who okayed California Adventure instead of Westcot. He used his position as a columnist for a popular Disney website ( MousePlanet) in order to spew his vitriol far and wide.

A search for "Al Lutz" on Google Groups brings up tons of wank for this guy. Here are just a few posts I found.

Oooh, but that's not the end of Lutz. After a kerfuffle with the folks at MousePlanet, who weren't taking a liking to Lutz's whinging, he took his toys, stomped away, and began his own website, MiceAge, where he's free to share his diatribe without fear of angering others.

But he still angers others, constantly. Every time he posts a new article about how bad Disneyland has gotten, Disney forum participants on many bulletin boards fall over themselves complaining about Al's complaining. It's a big ol' circle of wank...kind of thing.

Disney wank! Yay! An oldie but a goodie. ;)

What are people's thoughts here about posting "classic" wank, if it's particularly good? Cause there's a lot more where this came from. (cmdrstl threads at Disneysites; more Lutz-related stuff from JimHillMedia.com; the anonymous Lutz posts concerning Jim and Michelle's daughter...)

Can you even call Al a BNF anymore? BN sure, but can you really someone a fan who's that negative? :P

	I'd link some of the more choice threads by that 'lady' but honestly, there are too many to list. I haven't stuck my nose in that group for literally years and I still remember the name with a shudder. Seriously. 	Oh, I knew I only touched the very tip of a huge iceberg. If you've got more wank, please share it! I've only heard much of this third hand, so I'd like to find out more too. Al's still on his anti-Disney crusade, so this is very much fresh wank, but wank that's gone on so long it's also historic wank. Urgh... Would Al be a Big Name Anti-Fan? I get most of it fourth or fifth hand, myself. :p Here's one I only got second hand:

Michelle Smith is the ex-wife of another Disney BNF, Jim Hill. Both are former Mouse Planet contributers. (She is now Jim's site's webmaster.) They have a daughter.

Right after she decided to leave Mouse Planet (while Al Lutz was still there), this was posted by an anonymous poster:

For some reason, I never thought about the existence of a Disneyland fandom. But hey, whatever.

Truth be told, I was a little sad when the Westcot plans died, since Epcot is my favorite theme park ever (GEEK!) and going to Anaheim is WAY easier for me than going to Orlando.

But this guy... someone duct-tape his hands. And his mouth. Heck, just wrap him up and mail him somewhere far, far away. Maybe then he'll shut up. O_o That is major longevity of wank.

As a Disneyland Annual Passholder, I do happen to think that Al Lutz is pretty much on target most of the time. DCA really is a lousy failure, park maintenance is terrible, I've seen the sparks flying from the monorail on several occasions . . .

Now, Kevin Yee on the other hand . . . he gets pretty wanky at times with all the "when I used to be a Cast Member" and the pimping of his Disney trivia book.
