And now for something just a bit different
The Ten Commandments Of Fandom

1. Thou shalt not flame needlessly.
2. Thou shalt practice common sense.
3. Thou shalt live and let live.
4. Thou shalt not declare thyself the One True Fan.
5. Thou shalt not act in a manner that gives all fand a bad name.
6. Thou shalt learn to take constructive criticism in a mature fashion.
7. Thou shalt not lump all fans into one stereotype, be they yaoi, het, sub, or dub.
8. Thou shalt not forsake canon or the creators/authors, for without them, there would be no Team Rocket or Sirius Black to adore.
9. Thou shalt not stage fandom wars.
10. Thou shalt not take fandom way too seriously, for it is but a game.

I've just gotta say, entirely OT, that I adore your icon. It's not all that often that you see dressage icons 'round these fannish parts, and as a rider myself, it warmed the cockles of my cold little heart. *grin*

OT, too, to add to the icon lurrrve. I think that's the first dressage icon I've seen 'round LJ. Then again, I haven't gone looking for any riding comms yet. I can't decide if they'd be more or less scary than fandom comms.

Exactly. I think that most fannish conflicts happen between the latter, or because the latter start mocking the former for not taking things too seriously enough.

The unfortunate thing is that the people who will benefit most from this list of commandments will never see it. You're pretty much preaching to the converted here.

The only solution is to crosspost it to every fandom-related lj community you can think of, and report the results back to us!
