we all remember that some twit was distributing firefly vids to an actor and someone else was stealing popfantastic's. in fact, we're bound to remember more than that. whatever the direct cause, some damned plagiarists have finally provoked a response and are going to reap the consequences!

check out this determinedly organized little coalition that's been set up to fight the forces of darkness take back artists' creative rights.

their mission? "to prevent plagiarism... disseminate information about the perpetrators and the purveyors of stolen fan-created artwork...To inform and enlighten fans both new and old about the whys and wherefores of fandom, including each individual fandom's stance on theft. ... prevent costly bandwidth-suckage via direct links... ."

how?

by taking down their entire websites for one day at a time and replacing them with a message ("fandom is currently experiencing some technical difficulties. please stand by"). and also by publishing the plagiarists' names.

9:37pm: Save Authors From Slash!
I've been lurking on FAP for a long time and I've noticed something really awful.
A lot of really good authors are being seduced by slash. This is terrible, especially since their slash is usually poorer quality than their other work and as everyone knows slash contains a lot more porn and so on than het.

Oh FAP, you are always dependable for a good wank.
