And I wasn't even TRYING!

It all starts out innocently enough - me posting random icons I made. One can safely say I'm a mark for attractive girls and Tori Amos lyrics. :)

Of course, someone took offense to that, to which I replied rather casually.

Suddenly, someone implies that disturbed stranger is not the only one freaking out, someone else confirms it, so I went on a search that took me here.

Of course, I commented, but the maintainer (who was the one who made the post in the first place) took them down. Fortunately, I had a friend with the window open, so she saved it for me.

Sadly, I can't reply anymore, as now the maintainer made the comments accesible to members only, AND if that doesn't take the cake, she only accepts members by invite. :)

What I'd like to know is where else I've been mentioned over harmless little icons. I also emailed her to ask if she can at least take down the icons so she doesn't steal my bandwidth. Who knows if she'll even read it.

At least I didn't use Me and a Gun lyrics, right? *giggle*

Edit 2: Strangely, I think we've buried the hatchet. o_O I swear, sometimes I think I'm far too forgiving to be a member of this community.

4:09pm: and now for something completely different
In keeping with today's theme, I present a multi-community icon wank! (I know, it's not really a fandom but this wank is so good. Seriously - read on.)

It all began innocently enough in </a></b></a>pop_icons. In an apparently ongoing saga, </a></b></a>moofy posted this little gem of a rant and then proceded to neither quit nor shut up as she promised. I give you a typical Moofy post, with all the drama that 27 comments can bring.

I, not being a close follower of the community, then unknowingly jumped into the madness head first. Finally, Moofy got herself banned and her response to her archnemesis </a></b></a>pretty_fuck is beyond pricelss.

Later I was cruisinig communties only to find...yes, that's right, more wank, this time in </a></b></a>blinkie_shop. apparently the mod was pissed about getting no respect, and it eventually led to her deciding to close the community until further notice.

and in the midst of all this who should make the very next post but our favorite: Moofy! once again, she randomly accuses Pretty Fuck of stealing and Pretty Fuck wastes no time in jumping her right back.

This can only get better. may i suggest popcorn and a comfy chair?

9:21pm: Every (good) wank needs a stuffed, mounted and beaded dead pony
I answered a query today about the beaded dead horse which (I know I got almost completely wrong) reminded me about just how much I have forgotten about the origins of our hurtful witty little in-jokes. It's interesting, having been TOSed twice now, how much is forgotten when the records are erased. In a curiously 1984 way, things are mis-represented or changed completely.

This thread was actually started a while ago on FAP. It was buried for a bit but has resurfaced. And thank goodness! I had forgotten about how lovely it was.

The thread starter wonders why the standards in Harry Potter fandom are so low.

I know I always choose a fandom based on its "standards" and not, say, the source material.

One of the anti-yaoi LJ communities has decided it can't take the heat, and is going to haul ass out of the kitchen. Anonymous posting, gone. Dissenting opinions, gone. Anti-yaoi name, gone, 'anti-OoC yaoi' name in place. Pink background in place. Seriously pink. My computer screen looks like it's been sprayed with Pepto-Bismol.

I guess the name change was meant to tell us that they're not really against that icky gay sex, just that icky gay sex between anime characters who aren't gay. But the icky het sex is fine and dandy!
