1:39am: Homestar Runner, wanky?
You'd be surprised...

Because nothing upsets the delicate balance of the universe like a web cartoon being talked about in *gasp* a "teenie magazine".

4:30am: Boy Touching Wank
Boy Touching has gone wanky!

It all started when zxskitchxz posted an entry to the community, meaning to feature a photo of Ewan McGregor and Elton John snogging. They lj-cut the entry, leading most to believe there'd be a picture behind the cut. Not so, however-- it turned out they lj-cut simply for a link.

Enter the wankiness!

First, and apparently benignly, towith asks why they lj-cut the entry. Then steerpyke expresses dislike of the picture. Then... rebel_waltz enters!!

Read such priceless comebacks as "well, your icon's fuckin' ugly" and a very confusing "DUH"!! Witness the wonder that is towith vs. rebel_waltz!!

Huzzah!! While this flamewar isn't quite up to my now quite-firm Les Mis standards, it is entertaining. I only wish it'd continue longer...
9:09am: This isn't wank, but I read it, and immediately thought of this group. Over at the lj_nifty community, someone has discovered a way to view deleted comments (as long as someone has posted a comment after the one that was deleted). I figured this would help those of us who come upon a wank a little late in the game. *g*

4:36pm: Memories Update
Updated the memories for the past few months. Added a few catagories which I felt were needed and condensed others.

I put all the "u_make_lj_suck" wanks in Elitism because that's what they mostly are (am I being elitist in doing that? Ah the meta wank!) and all the "vintage_sex" wanks (of which there are far too many) in Erotica.

We shall now return to our regular wank schedule, enjoy!
4:36pm: from the hobbitslash fandom, meet some self-important speechifying...
...from an old-time contributor to the amusement of this hallowed community (i tried to say something about halls or archives, but it just didn't work out). alas, the earlier amusement occurred when [info]fandom_wank was still on livejournal. (but if anyone's curious the progress can be followed via my personal, biased 'kerfluffdates': 1, 2, 3, 4).

background: thou, or the history of us, is [info]daisy_gamgee's epic merry/pippin saga which, in her own words, covers 90 years. it has its own devoted following (and community, [info]thou_support), but it also has certain detractors (the original source of the kerfluffle up there was an anonymous, critical comment. hm... where else have we seen that lately?).

the post, which is kinda like a dear john letter except that she's posting the controversial chapters and not taking them down, pretty much covers everything. basically, she wrote some chapters with non-con and didn't put warnings on them, came under fire, took them down and replaced them with different versions of the chapters, and left them down a long time. now she's putting them back up.

she's given this a lot of thought, evidently. she favors us with a quote from 'The Courage to Write: How Writers Transcend Fear, by Ralph Keyes.' an excerpt:
Popularity is a serious brake on artistic expression of any kind. If people like you--and you expect them to like you--the risk of doing anything controversial, or saying anything revealing, is profound.

but don't think she took the chapters down because of criticism. she took them down because they 'really fucked up a during-and-post-Quest Brandy Took episode that is absolutely necessary to the 90-plus-year story I'm trying to tell.'

in fact, you might read the whole thing without realizing she'd gotten any criticism if not for this:

What I *do* regret is posting it without a "non-consensual situation" warning, and being foolish enough to believe that everyone who reads adult fanfiction can respond to such in an adult manner.

(edited to add the link! d'oh.)

6:07pm: Aye, un minuscule se branle.
Or, a small wank, according to WorldLingo.

I really should credit [info]milkshake for this kerfluffle because she was the one that posted the link.

So, a newbie makes an introductory post to [info]anime, and it's typical catgirl fare. With loads of painful Inu Yasha quizzes. (Sadly, now gone.)

As expected, wank ensues of the plebedrama kind with said catgirl retracting her membership. *sigh*

Question. )
7:10pm: More country wank!
Hello! First-time poster, long time wank-watcher.

The following beautiful wank comes from the LJ community [info]debate.

[info]las_on_ya makes this post about an article he read in the Toronto Sun claiming that the smog covering the city comes from the US. He makes some other general "The US sux0rz!!!11" remarks.

In come the indignant Americans!

"Fuck off, pansy!" retorts one.

"To hate a whole country is recokulous!" says another.

[info]americasucksass is mentioned!

Some try to present other points of view!

Some are just damn funny.

But the real fun occurs when [info]guntomyhead enters the scene with a fairly intelligent point and seems to be genuinely looking for debate (despite the CANADA SUX tagged onto the end). [info]mrflagg and [info]skaloop are the main players in this game. Actual debate on the topic continues roughly until about here, where [info]skaloop decides to get personal.

It's all downhill from there, and quite amusing.

11:39pm: Incoming Clay Aiken wank! Everyone duck and cover.. like the turtle says...

Well, the people at the clay aiken journal on lj are back in the topics. This one, about icons! Religion! And ladies and gentlemen, you guessed it, sexual orientation!

Original post about an ebay auction.. check out the posters icon. I thought it was funny at least.. Cheeeeeeeese. Yum.

And the thread that starts it all... Some of the comments are legit but in the end, isn't the insulter... tingilya.. just trying to defend her superiority complex?

Will the Clay wanks ever end? I know I've seen a lot of them...
