There's been quite a run on RPF/RPS related wank lately, hasn't there?

More RPS Wank. I'm mainly linking this one because AJ Hall comments extensively and makes remarks about how mistreated she was by us over her own wankage. Sniff, sniff. She's considering leaving fandom over it. She's also made a post about the previous kerfuffle in her own journal after shutting down her earlier post. And I gotta say, she's smashingly superior ;)

3:25pm: LotR Slash Wank....Homophobia, Underage Fen and more!
First Maura decided that she just couldn't bear to write/read slash any more because it was such a horrible sin!!

Then Elbereth did a me too post (which is sadly friends locked). And when the backlash began, she got all defensive. (Again friends locked). The gist of her posts though, were the same as Maura's: that she was leaving the slash community because she just couldn't keep sinning any more. *rolls eyes*

Ancalime followed suit, friends-locking her entry too so that she could avoid being called on her prejudicial remarks.

Elwen asked the age old question of "why can't we just all get along???" while still getting in a few anti-gay digs. (NOT friends locked)

The real fun, though, begins when baranduin makes her opinion of this mini-exodus known.

My favourite quote from baranduin's thread's comments is from Maura:
Let me also say that I am not homophobic. To each his own. I simply will not allow myself to be homosexual because I believe it's wrong.

Be careful, reading Maura's entire post may give you whiplash.

ETA: *snerk* I've been told to apologize to poor Miss Maura or I will be banned from baranduin's LJ. Oh my heart is so broken. Yes I got snotty, but I have a low tolernce for morons. Which Maura most certainly is.

8:12pm: Just to make sure we have no further confusion, the "Maura Labingi" referred to here is the LJ user maura_labingi. I'm mauralabingi on LJ. Two different people. I've had people mix me up with her before, but I must say, never so entertainingly.

By the way, this Maura Labingi is not swearing off slash. Nor do I have problems with homosexuality; in fact, this Maura Labingi is a certified muff-divin' woman-lovin' enthusiastically Sapphic fool. Which really just makes the whole thing that much more amusing, doesn't it?

kaylarudbek gets all Biblical on her ass: RPS is against the Old Testament and F_W obviously can't grasp the complexities of the argument ajhalluk put forth. Anyway, I haven't seen F_W because it's been suspended.. And then, on to poison the well of discourse before it's even begun: Not to mention, F_Wers could never understand my superior arguments, and add to that my exposure to and delight in Jesuit-style, legalistic, subtle, complicated reasoning; I'd probably really confuse the hell out of everyone if they attempted to get into a flame war on this with me.

And on it goes.: It's certainly not much of a step from "This group regards the application of serious thought to fun as worthy of ridicule" to "This group is composed of people who don't enjoy thinking."

co0kie_kween is annoyed, and posts a whole separate entry about how irritating it is when people post icons to the wrong community.

But she's not really all that bothered about it, nor is she making a BIG DEAL out of it!

And she's really sorry about sounding like a bitch, she's really not one, she swears!

Hmm... this chick's ranting sounds awfully familiar...

(FWIW, I do think she has a valid point, but making a whole separate post to rant about it rather than a polite note in the original poster's post is just a bit much.)
