12:17pm: Seeking wank!
FF.net has just changed its pseudonym policy, forcing all users to get original (on THAT site? LOL!) and use unique names. This has so far entailed forcibly changing all duplicate names without warning the users first.
Now, I have no problem with this policy. I actually
took the ten seconds' worth of effort it required to land unique pseudonyms in the first place, so I'm unaffected and I don't honestly care. BUT. I guarantee this change has caused whining of epic proportions somewhere out there in fandom -- maybe even catfights over names! So this is me asking you to bring some to the table, if you've spotted it...
2:57pm: death threat
Mr Burrows (one of MsA's minions) sent Rakshi a death threat. The text is
here.I'm not sure I'm capable of laughing at it. But it'll be interesting to see if MsA & Co have any morals whatsoever. The last time he threatened someone with sexual assault, they thought it was cute.
4:04pm: And on the lighter side...
Not strictly fandom, but still spectacularly wanky:
LJer Ggirl
complains about pictures of fat cats in
kittypix.
2 pages and 159 comments of wank ensue, including sub-wanks about the "arguing on the internet == Special Olympics" picture and George Bush usericons.
Only on LiveJournal, folks.

Aaaaah, Harry Potter, the fandom that never fails to find different ways to wank.
terminal_frost is quite a prolific icon maker. She has a second journal,
striped_fox, in which she posts all of the icons she makes. In one of her latest posts, she displayed some
Harry Potter house mascot icons that she made.
From a purely asthetic standpoint, the icons aren't that bad. But the problem is, the colors that she used for the icons aren't the correct house colors.
onceuponatime13 kindly
pointed out that striped_fox had used the wrong colors, and wank ensued as striped_fox attempted to defend herself through various excuses, such as "the real colors don't sound right together," "words like 'bronze' and 'yellow' are too long to fit on an icon," and "they're my icons, so I can make them whatever colors I want."
Later, she made
a post to
hp_icons whining about how people were flaming her and insulting her artistic vision in her own journal! (*gasp!*) My favorite part is this bit: (the emphasis is mine)
"
Oh, and just for the record, the HP series, as good as it is, is not gospel, and nothing Rowling says should be considered iron-clad. If it's not stated specifically, then it is open to interpretation. (Look to fanart and fanfiction for a clear demonstration of that fact.)"
Um, excuse me? How is JKR not the person with the final say in something involving the series of books that she writes?
