Ah Master-Apprentice, home to TPM slash. There's been a lot of wank lately, sadly not on the web so not visible to you, the readers of fandom_wank.

But wait! Jedi Rita posts a long essay to the mailing list about a particular series of stories. She gets very little in the way of discussion about/because of this essay. And so she complains about it. At length.

Responses in other LJs range from the serious and sensible, to the somewhat grumpy to the rather humorous.

9:33am: "Quiet You NON-Spidey Fans.... idiots"
So, the JB wank reminded me of a small kurfuffle I witnessed on the Superhero Hype boards, where some enraged Spidey fan complained that Spiderman was getting too mainstream. Once again, classic case of "n00bs sux0rs."

When others point out that more fans = better franchise, OP leaves in a huff, but not without calling the forum a "WANNABE spidey fan board."

So cute...so wanky...

6:32pm: Who needs a picture when I am funny?
jenniferjayde believes that Orlando Bloom is a computer generated vision of perfection. In fact, she went so far as to post her theory to the orlando_daily community without the benefit of a picture in her post. She crossposted the same entry to other Orlando communities as well.

The rules for posting to that community are clearly outlined. Pictures only.

So, the mods removed her post after asking jenniferjayde to add a picture otherwise she’ll have to delete the entry. Jenniferjayde never does. (For a look at her original entry that was deleted, here is the exact duplicate that she posted to the bloomingorlando community.)

Next, Jennifer posts to the community providing a picture (as per the rules) as well as a scathing opinion on the deletion of her entry and the power trip that the orlando_daily mods are wielding.

Community members rush to defend the mod’s actions, probably not being as supportive as Jennifer would have liked. So she comments to her own entry and says that she forgot that orlando_daily was a pictures only community. But then turns around and says she posted to see how many people she could rile up over this sort of thing.

Well, apparently this argument has gone too far. midniteangel629 has had enough and makes her own post to the community expressing her anger and ultimately applauds jennifer's ability to laugh at herself. Lijahsluv is also disappointed in everyone and announces that she is leaving the community as a direct result of this heated discussion.

Personally, I think the funniest bit is the part where jenniferjayde’s picture didn’t even show up on her undeleted post.

8:34pm: More Dragonriders of Pern movie wank on the horizon
Y'all remember the first DRoP wank post I made about a month ago? It's getting ready for round two with the appearance of Scriptor, Ireallyamascreenwriter/director, really really. (Scroll down to the last post and onto the next page for that last one-- I admit my suckage in not knowing enough HTML to make it skip straight to the pertinent posts.)

See scriptor (who is all of 20, according to her profile,) proclaim that she is a Great and Powerful Screenwriter who's been to film school and everything!

See me mock-squee over her credentials and have the pleasure of seeing her miss the joke. I'm not proud.

See scriptor declare that Pern will thoroughly kick the ass of Lord of the Rings, and people WILL sit through 4 hour Pern movies once she educates them properly!

See scriptor declare that those pesky studios had better not cut out scenes or condense storylines-- or else!

See fans agree in big red letters because when your letters are BIG and RED then they're IMPORTANT.

See Anareth say, "Er, are you quite sure you've thought this through?"

See scriptor proclaim that she has, that she knows the film industry inside and out, and she's been through hell and back, and that it will go exactly as she says or OMGHERLIFEISOVER!

It hasn't really erupted yet, but since I just told her that hanging her self-worth on a movie that probably won't get made and almost certainly won't get made by her is probably not a Good Thing.

Amazing.

The HP site that never stopped wanking manages to continue causing wanks even after the site has been killed by its admins.

One of the former 'big names' of GT posts this.

It seems that kvader feels that 'various people associated with FA' will be blaming SugarQuill for any problems in the fandom. Of course kvader screens comments by default, so at this time there is only an anonymous comment (and said person calls someone else a 'adminazis') saying that FA will blame one of 'other pro-R/Hr and pro-H/G site[s]'.

However, FA admin Heidi has solved this by posting her reply in her LJ here.


So remember all of you in the HP fandom (and those that are not) that the HP fandom is split into 'pro-R/Hr and pro-H/G site[s]' and FA. If you are not the former then you are associated with the later.
