4:44am: Anne Rice Wank!
My Wank-O-Meter went off reading a post in another community where this received mention. Only this time it's not from the illustrious Holier-Than-The-Almighty Ms. Rice herself, but from one of her fans. It's a wee one, but it might grow.

weirdchick finishes reading Blood Canticle, and posts her personal opinion of it to anne_rice.

For those of you not in the know, Blood Canticle was just released a few days ago. Most of you probably remember the wanks about spoilerage regarding HP and OotP earlier this year, right?

Well, she says she won't use an LJ-Cut on her post, and says "their crap". Now, to her credit, I will say she doesn't give away the ending, whatever it is. But she still discusses a very recently released novel in full view, and aspects of it, and merely tells people to just scroll on by if they don't want to be spoiled.

Which works about as well as you'd expect.

Aside from the beginnings of "how dare you spoil the book!" wank, there's the mocking of her improper usage of 'their' in her post.

Someone takes exception to people commenting on the misuse of 'their', or being upset about the book being spoiled, and says: "Have an open mind, for the gods' sake, you aren't better than anyone in this community, so quit acting like it."

It's small, but it's still new. More wank may come.

10:12am: A little Foxtrot feed wank. From yesterday, but I was waiting for it to grow a little.

So, for Halloween, Foxtrot had Paige go to a geek's costume party, where he was dressed as Legolas. On the last day of the story (yesterday), Morton invites Paige to a second party the next night, due to the sucess of this one.

DracolovesHarry comments "THis is the point where Paige politely takes the invitation and runs for the hills, hoping to never see Morton or his creepy Legolas!costume ever again."

Bassbone responds that the username DracolovesHarry is "Eminently more sick than the Legolas costume."

Wank ensues.

Small, but I found it somewhat amusing. Not sure if this would be better placed on otf_wank, but I figured the HP/LotR connection would put it here.

2:13pm: I wank for the dead!
More Gaia Online wank! It's small, but tasty.

Unfortunately there's something wonky on Gaia right now with post times, so it might not be the easiest wank to read because of the messed up post order. So, to sum up:

User IvyCurse wants the Gaia admins to create a poppy item, to be worn for Rememberance Day (which, I am supposing, is Veteran's Day in the US). Not an unfair request, really. And the thread starts out fine.

Then it descends into wank. IvyCurse dismisses suggestions that the item be proposed in the threads specifically created for new item ideas, because it's TOO IMPORTANT to follow the rules...

I was only suggesting a poppy for a holiday, and it should be taken seriously, those people died so that we can live in peace today. I'm sorry you do not feel the same way about those who died so that you can have your freedom.

Wow. You suggest I follow forum protocol, so you must H8 TEH SKARIFICE OF TEH DED!!!1111 OMG!!!!!111!11 Is there some law about that? :P There should be.

Eventually, she tells certain people to shut up and stop posting in "her thread", begins to insult people, and continues to repeat that it's just a tiiiiiiiiny little reemmmmmeeeeeeeebrance for those who diiiiiiiiiiiiieeeeed.

Apparently her rememberance is to wank like crazy until she gets the tiny blob of pixels she wants. Nice.

4:36pm: DL Anon Wank!
I can't believe no one reported this yet. Major wank on dl_anon:

It all starts with an unfortunately phrased comment that mentioned serial killers and homosexuals in some sort of bad analogy.

And with the help of an anonymous troll, and various other bored posters, the wank grew. Includes deleted comments, hissy fits about being picked on and leaving the group because we're such meanies...

And best of all, anonymous troll wins a prize for some weird contest thingy!

9:39pm: Ladies and Gentlemen, a new-comer in the arena of WANK!
Enter a (reletively) new community, Rabid Fans Suck, with some old wankers faces that've been on here before: WolfSamurai, Crystal Dawn, Aeanagwen, and Zanne Chaos are some frequent posters. But since these people mostly get along, no big deal, right?

Well, not until the Anti-Fangirl arrives!

Watch as Anti-Fangirl tries to preach the gospel of elitism to Rabid Fans Suck! Watch as Rabid Fans Suck goes "Okay, and?" The entire thing starts with her sprawling introductory post, proclaiming herself to be the Anti-Fangirl because she likes Relena Peacecraft *gasp**shock**no! In this day and age?! Won't she be flamed into the Stone Age?! I mean, GWing fandom is still so nasty and evil these days! [/sarcasm]*. She also declares that if you call Fruits Basket 'Fruits Basket', it means you're not a good enough fan to know the abbreviation for it is 'Furuba'. All the intelligent fans call it 'Furuba', you know.

Several people take exception to this *along with agreeing with some of her more intelligent points*. Watch as she tries to defend herself with her elitism, and digs a deeper hole! Then, stare in awe and reverance as she proceeds to spread her wank gospel and love all over LJ Land (and my computer screen). (oh, by the way - all of these posts? Posted to three different communities over the course of two days. And half of them are exactly the same post. So I've had my friends page clogged up by this for two days now. Oh, and for added fun? Go look at her user profile.)

I think I'm supposed to be in awe and reverance of her anti-fangirlish-ness, or something. But all I'm hearing is "fap, fap, fap" whenever she posts.

11:19pm: An older cross-anime fandom wank!
This is old (in Internet time), but since I just found it...

Now anime fans can be scary. One of the most scary fandoms is the one for CLAMP's X/TB. And be the fandom small or large, if it's anime, the snark and the elitism is bound to come up. How about... when someone notices "similarities" in two animes?

The wanky parts in quick play: Even the first message points out that indeed, many animes use same plot devices!
How many series are there were the 'innocent young hero sees evil villain murder and is horribly cursed' anime are there?
Well, probably a lot, but that's besides the point...

The other similarities pointed include: The use of shikigami and ofuda! The purple and green eyes of the leads! The flinging sakura! One fake eye of the bad guy! (Ok, that last one is a bigger coincidence, but still they're different.) And the best: The picture of the lead character having a cross-shaped scar on his cheek!

OMG That's so totally a ripoff!!

Now, if YnM is the show that wanted to be X, is the fandom also following the footsteps of the Big Snarky One?

I should hope so.
