9:23am: more fun with petitions
There's a small argument filling the pages of Livejournal's Democrat community
regarding Bush's nomination for the Nobel Peace prize.

mizundast00d made an entry on his/her journal regarding it, and then his/her friend blindfaith101 copied his/her text and threw it on an entry-- complete with A PETITION TO UN-NOMINATE BUSH AND BLAIR.

6:41pm: Why Did She Say Thank You?!?
I don't like tattling on my friends, but in this case they really deserve it.

On this thread, the issue boils down to "She said thank you to someone I don't like and I'm darn pissed about it."

It seems that Voyager Angel message board owner Chris thanked Dakota and Anne Rose for making some avatars for her board. Since this is the Star Trek Voyager fandom, that action was of course met with a barrage of confusing hostility.

Several board members declare that AnneRose doesn't deserve thanks, because after all 'anyone can make a message board avatar'

Others respond with the obvious 'but others didn't, she did, and who cares anyway' argument.

This is met with the question "But why did she thank them today?"

When no one has an answer for the reasoning for the exact date of the thank you, Vanhunks repeats this question every three posts, for two pages, with increasing loud cries of "But you didn' t answer my question."

Then it's questioned whether enough people SAW the thank you, which makes one wonder how many would be enough, and enough for what, exactly, anyway.

Also notable is the accusation that computer hacking is the culpret when one of the avatars fails to load for an individual user. Gosh, I've never had to hit refresh to load a graphic before, have you?

The board owner finally locked the topic, and I suspect they'll all be happily flaming each other about something completely different within hours.

And indeed they do.

An update:

The board owner has now deleted all the avatars and is calling for someone to make new ones.

This has naturally been met with, you guessed it, confusing hostility.

Someone has also taken the opportunity to accuse AnneRose of "stealing" fic. Did she take someone's fic and post it as her own, you ask.

No, no one's claimed that at all. AnneRose is involved in a dispute over old emails sent to a public list (JCFicHaven at yahoo).

Former members of said list want their old posts deleted.

AnneRose declined deleting them on the grounds that she has better things to do than to sort through several years worth of email from a busy public list.

Yes, that is correct. They are fighting over ownership of old emails sent to a public list.
